To not provide a full refund during lockdown, utterly shameful. Profiteering over moral standing. No heart.

We knew the cottage was small, but very well laid out.. It was very clean with plenty of utensils. We loved the view from the patio doors, looking over Skiddaw and the range of fells, the end of lake Bassenthwaite. The owner, Mrs. Illman, was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

The cottage is cosy, intimate and overlooking spectacular fellsides, with just a glimpse of Bassenthwaite Lake.. We enjoyed a memorable holiday walking, dipping into lakes and generally relishing the wonderful surroundings. As a regular visit to the Lakes, this area was a revelation to me. We are booking the cottage for next year.

Although small (as described) this cottage met all our requirements.. It's location and outlook meant that we were happy to stay put and admire the view or else to set out to explore the beautiful area. The welcome we received on arrival was not only warm, but full of useful advice and ideas. Cottage we would gladly return to.

Great little place to stay for two adventurers .. .. loved it ... beautiful location ... quiet and peaceful ... Mrs Illman very helpful and accommodating ... just a little too far from civilisation to walk for a night out but only a few minutes to Thornthwaite by car. Added bonus is the heating ... nice and warm on even the coldest days. Will definately be back again ... and again ... and probably again. Booked for 2018 already.

We stayed here for a week from 26th August to 2nd September 2016. It was the perfect base for exploring the beautiful beautiful Lake District. We loved every minute of it. The little kitchen area was perfect for cooking up a meal to sit outside at the little patio table and eat, whilst looking out over Dodd Woods and the surrounding area. Bassenthwaite lake was only a short walk away. Fantastic.

The little kitchen area was perfect for cooking up a meal after a fantastic hike, to then sit at the little patio table outside and eat whilst looking out over Dodd Woods and the surrounding area. A beautiful little cottage in a surprisingly quiet location. A very quiet haven to wake up in and return to at night which was in sharp contrast to the bustle of the popular sights of the Lake District. The owners have provided everything you could want.
