We booked this property for an Easter family break Covid 19 and government guideline prevent us from travelling. Tried many times to contact the owner via booking agent Sykes who have not helped at all. We stand to loose all our money due to not being able to contact owner Sykes have prevent this and rebooking is not an option.

We'd loved the cottage and had an amazing week in the lake district, but as I work in PR, just some feedback to make the cottage even better: No tumble dryer to dry clothes and the clothes line was slightly broken (couldn't extent the full height) If the sofa in the sitting room was a sofa bed, it could allow for 1-2 additional guests in the house as it was quite large and plenty of bathrooms..

We found the views out of the large lounge window very beautiful and the kitchen was stocked with high quality equipment.. We really enjoyed our Holiday. Things that could be improved. 1. The hood over the hob was too low, the taller members of our family kept hitting their head on it! 2. We did not feel in control of when the central heating was working. It would be good to be able to put the system on boost for an hour or so when required.

Unfortunately the top bedroom bed broke on sitting on it on the second day so had to sleep with mattress on the floor.. Overall great experience Was tricky to find as not on sat nav and a road was closed at the bottom of the hill

Friendly & helpful staff in the Lakes Cottages office in Keswick who gave us some useful advice when we picked up the keys regarding some roadworks near to the house that we were renting for 4 days.. The house was absolutely superb and provided 8 of us with a home from home for 3 excellent days celebrating a family 60th birthday - perhaps the only slight criticism is that the house was much better equipped than described. The kitchen in particular was very well equipped and has absolutely everything that 8 people would need to live permanently in the house. The Library has a load of books, games and jigsaws (which several of us did on the floor in front of the great log burner in the upstairs lounge) and the magnificent view of Skiddaw across the valley from most of the rooms is a joy to behold. A simple half mile walk into Braithwaite (remember to bring a torch as the road is completely unlit) for a choice of pubs but special mention must go to the Royal Oak - great food, friendly staff and an excellent atmosphere. We would love to go back!

We had a great holiday.. Great large house with all you could want. Great high pressure showers. Christmas tree and decorations were very nice. Much apprececiated the bottle of wine and panettone cake. The only niggle we had was with the heating. After a while it just goes off and we had to continually keep turning it back on to keep house warm when we were there. I appreciate that this is probably an energy saving measure, but it would be nice to have the house at a constant temperature while we were in.

Lovely house which could easily accommodate more than 9 guests.. Lots of space . Could get lost playing hide and seek in here!!! Warm and cosy with lots of hot water. Nice 10 minute stroll to the village which had plenty of facilities ( no supermarket - stock up before you go - plenty of of fridge and freezer space) Check in time could be earlier - particularly when only staying for 3 nights ( 6 hours between change over) another set of keys would have been useful

Fantastic property.. Amazing views and the whole experience warrants a 10 out of 10 score. Only minor drawback was the squatters ( chickens ) who left lots of their " calling cards" all over the place, and the roosters in the pack were a little zealous with their alarms. We have to expect when the countryside to accept the surroundings but I would suggest that future guests should be discouraged from feeding them, as they are very persistent in trying to enter the property. Would I go back to How end ? ……………….without a doubt !!!!! This minor setback does not affect my overall score !!!

We really enjoyed the stay again - a lovely house with stunning views and very convenient for Keswick and the rest of the North Lakes area.. One small point - the "spare" freezer (in the utility room) turned itself off on one day, so the ice creams etc in it defrosted. Not sure how, but it then started to work and was OK for the rest of the holiday.

We recently returned from an idyllic family weekend at How End. The house is superb; spacious, comfortable, and furnished to a very high standard. Equipped with everything you would need for the perfect family break. It is set in stunning countryside, with amazing views of Braithwaite lake and surrounding hills. We were there in April and were delighted by the new born lambs, playing in the fields in the front of the house. Braithwaite is a picturesque village, with great places to eat and drink. It is very close to Keswick, and ideally located to explore the rest of the lake district. We cannot recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be returning!!

really enjoyed our stay at How End over New Year. The house is well maintained, has plenty of space and is really warm and comfortable. The views are absolutely superb, and the walking is great and there are also some wonderful pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance.

How End it a beautiful cottage within walking distance of Braithwaite. We stayed there as a christams treat for all the family to get together ... when we arrived the whole cottage was decorated beautifully from top to toe in very tastefull christmas decorations which made it feel extra special. The cottage slept 8 of us very comfortably, we often had early dinners and then got all cosy round the log burner - plenty of seating for all. However one night we decided to get a taxi into keswick from the cottage which cost £6 which i thought was very good. Hope to be back next year!! Thank you How End for a holiday to remember!!!

When we picked up the keys for the house the staff was not very friendly. But we were very pleased when we arrived at the very nice house. We liked the space and the fantastic view from the living room. We would suggest to add a tumble dryer to the house because it is always a bit wet in the Lake District and the humidity I the house is quite high. Some of the showers in the house should be made more flexible.

A splendid setting looking out eastwards across the valley towards Skiddaw. The very neat gardens with outside furniture were a pleasure to sit in and relax after a day's sight-seeing. The rooms are very pleasant and well equipped; the Wi-Fi was an extra bonus. There was plenty of crockery, cutlery and kitchen kit for eight adults. A maintenance man came very promptly and dealt with two minor plumbing issues. The access gate into the lane is a little tricky, and the damaged cattle grid doesn't help also. Mt only real negative is the provision of 13.5 tog duvets in the middle of June did not make for comfortable sleeping. I know enough about Lake District weather and climate to appreciate the temperature regime in winter is very much colder, but some lighter weight bedding would have been much appreciated

how end is a lovely, well furnished extremely well equipped house with lots of space . it is in a perfect location for exploring this area of the lake district and the views from the first floor sitting room are fantastic. my only criticism would be that it is not tat far from a busy road and so road noise would be very intrusive if sitting out in the summer. luckily, or unluckily, in our week in may half term, it was not warm enough to sit out for a cuppa and there is no road noise audible form inside.

Great week weather was kind to us for a change, house was lovely, everything it says in the brochure. Our only criticism would be not enough fridge space for 7 people and as we cook proper meals every evening felt the dishes were not larger enough. Will be booking again though.

Very comfortable & warm. Recommend the following additions:- toilet brushes, a few more coat hangers, mirror and bedside lamps in upper bedroom. Also found the plastic kitchen utensils rather feeble; metal ones would be an improvement Hardly needed cars all the week;walks and pubs within easy reach. A good log supplier at the nearby farm. Keswick good for Christmas shopping when the mist is down!

How End appeared to be the perfect holiday destination for our family group. Although an expensive rental charge its size and location appeared to justify the price. Unfortunately our experience started to go wrong before we set off when, having had an email stating that towels were provided, we found that they were not. There then ensued a series of telephone calls that eventually produced reluctant agreement to provide towels. This may seem a small matter, but we've stayed at many high quality propoerties and have never provided our own towels. Given our party size of 7 adults, we would have needed considerable extra space to take the towels with us and the £35 rental fee for 7 sets of towels seemed unreasonable to us. On reaching the property it was a sizeable house in a magnificant location, with stunning views of Skiddaw. However, the cooker oven was absolutely filthy so we had to call out cleaners, who were quickly dispatched and made a terrific job to present the cooker in a state we expected on arrival. We also had to take out the patio table and chairs so we could sit outside and enjoy the sun. The table was of heavy and big and not an easy lift. The waste had not been emptied during the last week so the wheely bin was full. Thus we had to obtain black bags to leave out next to the bin, which wasn't emptied until the day before we left. Surely a better arrangement could be made for disposal of rubbish. The games room was unusable as it was so small. One of the downstairs rooms really would have been a better location for this. All in all, this was a disappointing experience, perhaps reflecting the newness of the letting of this property. I do hope for future users that the letting agent can address some of these matters, the property deserves it. Also their dealings with us were very inpersonal and in my opinion unprofessional as their feelings towards us, perhaps as a problem let, appeared to colour the way they interacted with us.
