Had a leek in the house which made us not have all bedrooms to use and also tumbledryer did'nt work, had to share bedrooms as to of the bathrooms were out of use for days

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that there was a leak which rendered one of the bedrooms unusable. Unfortunately, we were unable to rectify this during your stay. The problem has now been successfully resolved. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "The property is lovely and as described."

It was a perfect choice for a group of 8 of us to celebrate my partner’s 50th birthday. The open plan layout made it easy for everyone to relax and socialise and there was plenty of space. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable. The standard of decor was lovely and the property was spotlessly clean. The location of the property was also perfect. A short walk into town and no shortage of walks starting and ending at the property. We parked the cars on the Friday and didn’t use them again until we left on the Monday. All in all a weekend that we all thoroughly enjoyed and won’t forget. To a person everyone has said how perfect the property was for a group like ours.

First time in Wynford and Ambleside, but definitely won’t be the last. Lovely clean house with everything you need. Great location, perfect for walking to all the shops, restaurants and bars. Already planning next year’s visit!

  • "Everything generally very good."

Heating was an issue, but in fairness it was exceptionally cold weather. Had to get maintenance in to sort out the heating which we could not get working on the top floor. A knife sharpener would be handy as all carving knives were blunt. Otherwise an excellent location and facilities. We will be back for sure.

  • "Had a fantastic 3 night stay at Wynford in Ambleside."

Couldn't fault this beautiful house in any way. We were 7 adults and 4 children and everything you could possibly need was provided. The house was heated perfectly too. Would highly recommend and Lakelovers were very easy and helpful to deal with keeping us fully informed at every stage.

  • "Excellent facility’s, thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday, parents, four children, partners and a ten month old."

Everything had been thought of and supplied, a few maintenance issues noted but nothing that impacted our holiday. Roman blind on stairs broken and a crack on outside of skylight…as I say minor details. We struggled initially with opening the front door, user error but a heads up for future cottage users might save a call out for the very helpful and friendly maintenence team. More hanging space / clothes storage for the dressing room area in the loft would have been nice, a nice to have and did not impact on the holiday! A beautiful and well thought home from home!!

  • "A great property in an excellent location, easy reach of Ambleside town centre and the hills."

Plenty of space for our family and having en-suites were an absolute bonus. The views were fantastic from the property and kitchen facilities were excellent. We would definitely stay again. Just a small thing, there was a very strange message that was meant to be amusing on a pin board relating to the serial killer 'Fred West'. We could see the funny side, but some people might find this disconcerting and offensive. I would remove this if I was the owner as you never know what you might get!

  • "Beautiful, clean, comfortable and perfect for our four generation family holiday."

Plenty of room around the open plan kitchen, dining and living areas so we didn't feel like we were falling over each other. Our two springadors enjoyed the enclosed garden area and slept comfortably in the utility room. The bottom stair gate was useful in stopping them trying to explore upstairs and my nearly 2 year old grandson learned to bump down the stairs on his bottom so a top stair gate wasn't necessary. The location up a bit of a hill was peaceful but still very handy for everything in Ambleside and taking his time even Great Grandpa at 89 managed the walk. There were plenty of pots and utensils for cooking though another couple of serving dishes would have been handy. We had a fabulous stay and have already booked again for next year.

  • "The communal areas in this house were ideal for our multi-generational holiday, whether at the dining table, cooking in the kitchen or relaxing in the lounge no one was left out."

All the rooms were a good standard, with there being no need to squabble for the best room. Kitchen was well equipped, although the baking trays only fit in the larger oven which took some oven juggling for cooking. The views from the lounge snd dining areas were great, and although it rained consistently so we didn’t get to use the outside space this looked lovely and there was ample parking. We would definitely stay here again.

All but one of the rooms is en-suite and the 6th room has an adjacent bathroom which is a valued aspect of staying with family/friends. The kitchen is well fitted out with useful good quality stuff. There are two outdoor areas set up with nice outdoor furniture which we made much use of. We would highly recommend Wynford & Lakelovers!

The property

On the edge of the beautiful Lakeland village of Ambleside. Wynford is an outstanding property finished to the highest standard with sumptuous bedrooms and large and sociable living quarters.

A bright hallway leads to spacious living accommodation which has been cleverly zoned with a comfortable lounge area, large and impressive dining table and enviable kitchen area complete with five ring gas hob, double ovens and two large Smeg fridges.

Alongside the kitchen there is a convenient utility room and cloakroom WC. The property contains six beautiful bedrooms.

The first king size bedroom with en-suite shower room is situated on the ground floor.

On the first floor a long landing links four bedrooms, the first is a super king size bedroom with en-suite shower room, the second can be presented as a super king or twin bedroom, the third is a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and the final bedroom on this floor is a super king size bedroom with en-suite bath and shower room.

There is also a family bathroom situated on this floor.

A second staircase leads to the eves of the house where you’ll discover a sumptuous master bedroom suite.

Relax in the super king size bedroom, complimentary dressing room and luxurious en-suite bathroom with double ended feature bath. The residence offers two furnished patios and a large lawned garden. Parking is available for up to six cars and mountain bikes, canoes and outdoor gear can be securely stored in the garage. The owners respectfully point out that the road to Wynford is very narrow and as such extra care is required when driving to the cottage.

It is also the case that due to the narrow lane supermarket delivery vans cannot deliver to the house and so it is recommended that if you need shopping from a supermarket you visit the popular Booths supermarket, ten minutes by car, in Windermere where you will be able to buy all you could need. If you can pull yourself away from this beautiful residence, a short walk will find you in the heart of Ambleside where you can enjoy restaurants, cafes, shops, traditional pubs and even a jazz bar.

For a memorable day out on the fells, the popular circular walk of Fairfield Horseshoe goes past the front door of Wynford.

Whilst families may prefer a gentle walk to the northern edge of Lake Windermere where Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly for scenic trips to Bowness and Wray Castle. Jump in the car and you can quickly reach the picturesque nearby villages of Grasmere, Hawkshead and Keswick. Wynford is the perfect luxurious retreat for families and groups of friends looking to celebrate a special occasion in the heart of the beautiful English Lake District.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
