Peaceful location, Cosy Cottage.. My husband and I stayed for 4 nights, with our 2 dogs. The cottage has a wonderful quiet location, set among fields and a spacious gardens. The cottage has good access to the Lakes and Coast. The kitchen was well equipped for eating in. The fire was lovely for a relaxing evening. If we had any questions, we quickly got a response. We had a wonderful relaxing break. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Advertised whirl pool bath but was shower room, needs a mirror in the bedroom for doing hair and makeup.. Lovely friendly staff. Ideal area for country walks.
Mrs Langston, August 2020
July 2020
The kitchen was poorly stocked and the welcome pack was meagre and included milk that was out of date.. There was no salt and pepper or cleaning equipment except washing up liquid and a brillo pad. Due to the virus we cooked in more than normal and there was no frying pan just two griddle pans that were too heavy to pick up. We were attracted by the prospect of a whirlpool/spa bath. This turned ot to be a small shower cubicle with a very slow draining shower tray!! Unless of course we missed something!! The location was good and the staff we saw were friendly but overall the description was a little generous.

Initially we were not expected and told to go away for an hour while they hurriedly prepared our accommodation.. From then on everything was as we expected and an apology was received from Martin Ainscough. We had not been put out at all but it was nice to receive it. Everything about the property was comfortable, the facilities easy to use and other facts about the property available with advice about the local area and attractions. The weather was fantastic, the surroundings formidable all leading to an excellent five day stay in the Lake District. We would definitely go their again and recommend it to others.

The cottage was lovely, the bedroom very clean as was the kitchen.. The couch and chair has seen better days and could be renewed. The surrounding area though was beautiful , so quiet and peaceful definitely a place to restore the soul. The walled garden was just amazing so beautiful. On the whole I would definitely go back again

Lovely holiday, the cottage was so sweet and cosy.. The setting is stunning and it had a lovely, laid back feel. The only thing I would suggest is something to make exiting the drive to the property a bit safer and easier.

Excellent location 10 mins walk from Cartmel and at foot of Hampsfell.. Cottage perfect for the two of us and our two terriers. Everything we needed, well equipped, very comfortable and cosy - didn’t need radiators as very real looking gas fire threw out the heat - great after days walking. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Great holiday, met by staff on arrival who were available throughout our stay.. Lovely location amongst other holiday cottages of various sizes, would opt for larger cottage if staying at location again (Milkmaids cottage was smallest on the site). Very likely to return.

Lovely characterful cottage in superb location on edge of fells - good walks from the door.. The cottage is small but well-appointed, well-furnished and comfortable. Smart kitchen and shower room. The surrounding grounds are a pleasure to wander in and the walled garden is quite beautiful. Close to Grange over sands and Cartmel; Windermere and Coniston a half hour drive.

As expected the cottage was very small but that is ok for a single person or young couple.. The spiral staircase made it difficult to get suitcases upstairs and would be a hazard for older folk or young children. Fridge and cooker need updating.

My partner, golden retriever and I had a lovely couple of days in the Milkmaid's Parlour cottage. Although the accommodation was slightly dusty, the space had a lot of personality. The location is perfect for those who wish to explore the Lake District, as well as there being a few lovely walks accessible from the grounds. A welcoming and romantic stay, where dogs are very welcome.

Fantastic setting with plenty of walks immediately available, don't really need the car once you're there. The house and grounds were very impressive and the accommodation is very comfortable. Everything was clean and very comfortable, feels very homely and very welcoming. Facilities listed are adequate and the atmosphere is very friendly. Our cottage had recently been updated with new bathroom and décor, the others are being done - the results are fantastic. Thoroughly recommended and will certainly be returning!

A lovely break in a beautiful part of the world. The owner was very helpful and sorted out minor problems. The secret garden is exquisite and deserves a lot more time than we gave it. We shall certainly stay again.

Our hopes were high on arrival, in the grounds of a country home and just a mile outside Cartmel it seemed perfect for a new year break. However the cottage although well designed needs urgent modernisation and a professional firm of cleaners appointed. The decor is circa 1990 and although that isn't too much of an issue the manky bathroom with mildewed tiles and asthmatic shower is, plus the sofa that should have been sent to the tip years ago. The cleaning isn't up to spec either with cobwebs within light fittings, blocked and greasy extractor fans. As shame because with a little tlc it could be so much better!

We stayed in this cosy little cottage for our wedding anniversary and totally fell in love with it. A couple of mins drive into Cartmell to buy some presents and a nice sit outside one of the local pubs with a coffee. So peaceful and quiet and a lovely setting

The Milkmaid's parlour is a charming, compact cottage. It is part of a series of restored cottages. It had a lovely atmosphere and wonderful surrounding gardens - especially the walled garden. Cartmel is a very special village - especially if you like eating out, or dining in with good quality ingredients! And of course there is the sticky toffee pudding association! The main lakes of the Lake District are also readily accessible. A lovely holiday all in all.
