One of the lesser known lakes in the region, Esthwaite Water is no less beautiful and was, in fact, Beatrix Potter’s favourite lake in the region.Visitors can enjoy scenic walks around the edge of the lake, try their luck at fishing or even take a specialist osprey safari boat trip. Just one mile from the property is the village of Hawkshead, which has a choice of interesting shops and pubs and a number of interesting National Trust properties, including the Beatrix Potter Gallery.
