Greystoke is 5 miles from Penrith and has 17th-century dwellings. On the fringes of the Lake District National Park, 5 miles from Ullswater, this is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. Keswick is the north Lake District's holiday centre and boasts several shops, restaurants, a theatre, museum, indoor climbing wall, and miniature golf. The village's 10th-century church, Penrith's castle, and Lowther Castle's ruins add to the area's history. Greystoke is close to the southern Lakes, Eden Valley, Pennines, Solway Coast, and Hadrian's Wall, so there's much to see and do. Firstly ignore the negative review recieved recently for this property; it is not a true representation of the property. A beautiful old traditional cottage with modern touches in a great location. The cottage is better than the pictures. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. There were nice little touches left by the owners such as a dog bone left for the dog with poo bags and water bowl. Wine and milk left in the fridge as well as crisps and biscuits. Tourches and more. The bedrooms have plenty of storage and comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom is clean and a good shower and heated towl rail. The cottage was emaculatly clean. We did light the fires as it was cold outside. The owners could not have been more helpful when we walked out with the latch on the door ans keys inside! It is a very short walk to a waterfall, lake and the castle. Greystoke is a pretty village with a little pub, we weren't keen on the pub but that maybe just our taste. We will visit again!

Dear Trip Advisor. We arrived at the Lodge early to find the caretaker and his wife cleaning. However, they kindly let us in early for which we were grateful. We were surprised to see the Lodge with so many houses around including a boarded up front house next door. We were not able to get a signal on the TV as it kept saying “no signal”, we settled for the free movies but missed the BBC. We had no milk, so we went to the Post Office. No luck there. We decided to head five miles away to the town of. Penrith. However, on our return discovered no can opener. The Garden were very nice but don’t expect to discover any fish in the pond only a childs shopping bag and it was covered with flies. On the Friday Helen decided to have a shower in the beautiful unit only to have a fall as the unit did not have a shower mat and it was so slippery on the plastic bottom. No safety rail to hold on to and as pensioners it’s a must. It is also a EU directive that all shower units under 10 years be fitted with one .We were so cold the first 2 nights that we had to light the fire as we did not comprehend the Central Heating and its timer. The washing machine was a hit and miss affair but we did notice it had a service warranty on it, so I guess perhaps it had its day. We spent 3 hours cleaning and polishing only to be informed we left the Lodge in a total mess including . We even left tinned salmon and fruit and larger as we could not the washing machine working The cleaner has a lot to answer in her report Would we return Not on your Nelly
