Eaglesfield was the birthplace of scientist John Dalton, and it sits on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The market town of Cockermouth is less than 3 miles away, where you will find a good selection of pubs, independent shops and restaurants, you will also find William Wordsworth's home here. The coastal town of St Bees has great sandy beaches and is great for a walk with your canine companion. Visit the local distillery or brewery where you can book tasting sessions and tours, or if you fancy something more adventurous why not try wild swimming, with plenty of lakes in the area to choose from including Bassenthwaite, Loweswater and Crummock Water. The area has some excellent country pubs serving good food and local beer, it is the perfect base to enjoy some time away from reality. This pretty cottage has been lovingly restored, combining original features alongside modern comforts. As you walk through the front door you will find a compact porch, which leads you into the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The pretty country style kitchen is compact but well designed and has everything you will need to rustle up breakfast in bed or a romantic meal. There is a gas oven and hob, microwave, slimline dishwasher, fridge, mini freezer and washer/dryer. There is a lovely farmhouse style table between the kitchen and lounge for you to catch up over a coffee and make plans for your stay. The lounge is down a small step from the kitchen/dining area and has comfy seating, cosy wood burner and Smart TV. As you head upstairs to the first floor, you will find handy pantry style shelves. The first floor is accessed via a traditional steep and narrow cottage staircase and features low, sloping ceilings. There are two double bedrooms, with a step up to the main bedroom both have been styled and are in keeping with the age of the house with feature beams and wooden floors. The bathroom is stylish with a shower over freestanding claw foot bath and WC. There is a pretty, private garden accessed via steps just opposite the cottage with views over the fells and village. It is a lovely spot to sit out on a summer's evening, read a good book, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the world go by. There is private parking for one small car to the front of the property or alternatively roadside parking directly in front of the cottage.
