Set on the second and third floors of a modern apartment building, while there’s no garden to speak of, the snug balcony with river views is a lovely touch. An excellent option for families looking to explore the Lake District, take your pick from the countless walking and cycling routes nearby. Or hop in the car to Lake Windermere (two miles) or Coniston Water (ten miles) – getting out and about is a cinch with two off-road parking spaces. But if the weather doesn’t buck up, there are board games, a Playstation and Netflix here to amuse the kids (and the young at heart).
