A public footpath from the cottage leads you into this lovely town, which is home to a 17th century castle, a choice of pubs, shops and galleries, and boasts the Eden Valley Railway and Carlisle to Settle lines passing through. There are lots of opportunities for walkers and cyclists to explore on quiet country roads direct from the doorstep.
