  • "Yes, love to stay here been a couple of times now."

Also booked for next year, however property needs to be updated, hall stairs and land walks need rendering and painting because of damp, also new bigger tv in lounge needed can't get channel 5, also tv in bedroom badly needed, the settee and chairs also need replacing, the property need updating now to charge the amount you need vc to up date asap. However it's in a ideal spot close to everything and I do love the cottage, but like us all we need not and service now and again .

The property

Situated within striking distance of Port Isaac’s picturesque harbour and amidst the hustle and bustle of the popular fishing village is this quaint, former fisherman’s cottage, Waves End.

This charming holiday accommodation is the perfect base for families in pursuit of exploring this wonderful part of Cornwall and the fishing village, which doubled up at Port Wenn in the ITV television series Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes.

Enter into the warmth of the pastel painted, stone-built cottage into the charming open-plan living room, which has retained a wealth of character to serve as a gentle reminder of its interesting past.

The characterful Range cooker set in an exposed brick fireplace takes centre stage before the welcoming seating arrangement, which you can look forward to curing up upon after an action-packed day.

The kitchen boasts a range of quality appliances, including an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a quirky fridge, certain to entice a spot of home-cooking, and the handy washing machine, so that you can easily freshen up your clothes after a wonderful day at the beach.

When sleep calls, head upstairs to find two light-filled bedrooms, comprising of a double bedroom and a bunk bedroom, both with sash windows, framing the pretty views of Port Isaac to wake up to each morning.

Immerse yourself in your surroundings further by taking a stroll through the charming fishing village, where you will be spoilt for choice by the selection of shops and pubs that awaits you.

Be sure to make a stop off at the nearby Golden Lion to delight in a hearty evening meal, complemented by a pint of great ale or head to the famous Nicky B's, to sample a delicious Cornish pasty.

Explore the maze of narrow streets, home to the narrowest thoroughfares in Britain, named the Squeezy Belly Alley, before stopping of at the picturesque harbour, where fishing and scenic trips can be taken during the summer months.

After enjoying the harbour side, start to climb up the Roscarrock Hill, forming the western edge of the harbour, where you will find a Methodist chapel, which is now the Port Isaac Pottery and Café, before you reach Fern Cottage, which was used as Doc Martins Surgery, in the popular TV series.

Keen walkers can use Port Isaac as a base in which to walk the famous South West Coast Path to enjoy the dramatic coastal landscape and to admire the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coastline.

Neighbouring Port Gaverne offers a small sandy beach, as well as opportunities for sea-kayaking and coasteering days out courtesy Ben at Cornish Rock Tors, whilst slightly further away is Polzeath, the area's best surfing beach.

Alternatively, head inland to explore Bodmin Moor and its fascinating archaeological remains, offering superb countryside walks.

Other attractions within the nearby area include Merlin's Cave in Tintagel, Pencarrow House and Garden in Bodmin, as well as the Pentargon Waterfall in Boscastle.

With a plethora of things to do, Waves End is the ideal base for families to explore Cornwall.

PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
