Once an old cowshed, this Cornish cottage has been given a mesmerising new life. Located on a working farm six miles from Looe and Seaton where there are two other homes, this country retreat is a dream for rural adventurers. Stepping through the front door, we were hit by how well the living space beautifully marries traditional cottage living with modern style – the painted exposed stonework is a particularly stunning nod to the home's former life as a barn. Hardwood floors and beamed ceilings in the bedrooms also hint at the home’s history, while the white walls and blue accents remind you that the sea is never too far away. The home’s private garden is the perfect spot to listen to the morning birdsong or to fire up the barbecue on balmier evenings. On colder nights, board games await on the sofa by the wood-burning stove. As well as the private outdoor space, the home boasts an acre of beautifully landscaped gardens, ideal for picnics and walking the dog. And with so many landmarks and the South West Coast Path a short drive away, there are plenty of outdoor escapades to be had – fitting for life on the farm.

Home truths

Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement with the host

If you do bring your dogs along, they are not allowed to be left unattended at any time, and should be kept from going upstairs or on the sofas and chairs

We recommend having a car in this area – the home has on-site parking on a gravel drive

Due to the rural location there are no streetlights around, so after sunset the area around the home is very dark

The home is adjacent to a working farm, so expect to hear moos, spot a few stray cats, and prepare for some farm smells

We don't recommend this home for guests who struggle with stairs, as there are no toilets on the ground floor

Due to the home's location the WiFi signal can be poor

About Looe

Straddling the River Looe, with East Looe on one bank and West Looe on the other, the town of Looe has been a desirable destination for summer holidays to the British seaside since the Victorian era. The river is both its lifeblood – the town is still a working fishing port – and its focal point. You’ll find that most activities cluster along its length, whether you’re crossing the charming...

Host

This home is managed by Karl

This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Jacqui's farm is her pride and joy. Semi-retired, she adores welcoming new guests to her rural hideaway and turning them into annual returnees. Her eye for plants and presentation makes being outside here a total joy – words we'd use to describe Jacqui. She believes every stay should be unique and, most of all, enjoyable.
