Stratton was once an ancient market town, believed to be established in Roman Times, and still has an olde worlde feel with its historic buildings and narrow streets.

The small town was also the seat of justice for a wide area and is famous for its involvement in the Civil War. The nearby town of Bude boasts a wide range of shops, restaurants, craft shops and a choice of three sandy beaches, as well as a sea pool and golf course.
