Our week at Godscroft Hall.
My family and I have just returned from a week's stay in this truly amazing and unique property.
We first saw the house advertised on sykes website when we were looking for somewhere to stay whilst visiting friends in the area, the pictures of the house looked amazing and we booked it straight away and started to count down the days till our holiday.
Finally the day arrived for our holiday to start and as we made our way to the house, the owner Liz Warburton rang us to let us know that the house was ready for us and advised us where to find the key for the house and where the nearest tesco was which is in Helsby and only a few mins down the road.
Liz gave us her mobile number and email address and said to get in touch if we needed anything and she lives locally so was on hand if we needed anything.
Finaly after a 5 hour car journey we arrived and we were all just blown away with the house, the pictures just don't do it it justice.
My wife and I have 3 boys 2 teenagers and a 5 year old, thier first questions upon seeing the house were "are we really staying here?" and "did you win the lottery?". They asked us this as we usually stay in pokey static caravans that you can't swing a cat around in (not that we would I must add).
Godscroft Hall is spacious and for the 5 of us there really was more than enough room. The moment you enter the house you honestly feel welcome and as if you've just arrived home.
The effect that it had on my children was frankly astounding, the space and luxury of the house brought on a calming and relaxing mood on them, I found them one evening sat in front of the fire in lounge together talking and playing games together, which very rarely happens normally.
The house is full of character, comfortable and well appointed, the owners clearly love this house and take very good care of it, as holiday makers the attention to detail and care is clear and makes you appreciate the house and care for it as well.
The owners have also thought of everything that as holiday makers you could possibly need, so much so all we really needed to bring with us was clothes and a wash bag, the beds and the bedding were really good quality and comfortable, and waking up every morning listening to the bird's singing was sublime.
The kitchen was well appointed and had enough crockery and cooking utensils, which made cooking easy. There was a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer which are really welcome when there's 5 or more people staying.
The house has 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet which is really handy for the larger family. The addition of the snug / 2nd lounge was great, the children would spend their evening in there playing on the xbox they brought with them and my wife and I could then relax in lounge in front of the fire.
Being that we booked in February in the middle of winter, the house was lovely and warm. Even though the house is large it still had a very cosy feel to it, especially as we lit the log fire in the lounge every evening.
In the summer this house would be even better as there is a lovely garden to the front with a patio, table and chairs. We will definitely have to return to experience a summers evening with a bbq and a glass of wine in hand.
The house is in a great location too, close to the all the local amenities and Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, the Wirral peninsula and North Wales are all within easy reach for day trips.
As you can probably guess we had a great holiday, our only complaint would be that we had to go home...... We will definitely be back.
