Area On the mouth of the Teign estuary, the historic seaside town of Teignmouth in South Devon has a working harbour, sand beach, Victorian pier and sailing club as well as a diving centre and a centre for sea activities. "The Den," a large public area with lawns, play areas (including tennis courts, a bowling green), and a miniature lighthouse on the seaward side of the town is known. Fisherman's boats and beach huts can be found on the other side of Teignmouth, as well as views of Shaldon and the Dartmoor hills. Teignmouth also hosts annual folk and jazz festivals, as well as carnivals and water regattas in conjunction with Shaldon. Even if you stay in Teignmouth for a few days, there is a lot to see and do nearby, such as the stunning Dartmoor National Park, the city of Exeter, and the nearby harbour towns.
Region Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
