Pound Cottage is a lovely, single-storey barn conversion, attached to the owner's home, just under four miles from Great Torrington in Devon. With one king-size double bedroom with en-suite wet room, the property can sleep two people. There's also a kitchen and a sitting room with a dining area, whilst outside, there is off road parking for one car, a private patio area with furniture and shared use of the owner's extensive gardens. Pound Cottage is a beautifully-converted holiday home, set all across the ground floor.

Area
Great Torrington is an unspoilt town built on high ground above the River Torridge, a fifteen-minute drive from the spectacular North Devon coast at Westward Ho!. The town has a good selection of individual shops, a friendly atmosphere, and some good inns. Great Torrington is a quiet, convenient base from which to explore North Devon, the Tarka Trail and the rolling Devon landscapes.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Pound Cottage is an extremely comfortable hideaway for a relaxing break, with stunning views from the cottage itself.. It’s very rural but there are many walks and places to visit, both on the doorstep and farther afield. Jenny is a lovely welcoming host, and always available if you have any questions, but is very discreet at the same time. We enjoyed our chats with her, and also exploring this beautiful part of the world. Very quiet and relaxing. A home from home, with high quality fixtures and facilities at the cottage. We also felt that all necessary precautions and cleanliness standards were in place regarding Covid-19. Thank you Jenny. We enjoyed our stay very much and will be returning!

The accommodation was superb and enabled us to have a lovely relaxing week away from the crowds.. The cottage is beautifully presented with very comfortable sofa, armchair and kingsize bed and plenty storage space. The kitchen was well-equipped and the ensuite wet room had an excellent shower. The large windows look out onto an amazing garden and patio with colourful well-kept flower beds, expansive lawn and extensive views over the countryside We enjoyed lovely walks within a short drive, including the Tarka Trail, Huntshaw Woods leading to Berry Castle, the riverside at Torrington and at Bideford, and coastal beauty spots such as Instow and Hartland Quay. The owner Jenny lives right next door but was not obtrusive at all. She gave us a very warm welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our chats with her during our stay. We'd like to thank her for all her help and for the hard work and extra measures she had put in place which enabled us to feel as safe as we possibly could in the property during this Covid-19 pandemic. We can't wait to return to Pound Cottage for another relaxing break.

This was the first time we have done self catering.. To be able to have the freedom to come and go without the restrictions of B&B, just what we wanted. Pound Cottage is ideally located away from the main roads. If it is peace and quiet you seek one cannot do better than Pound Cottage. Jenny Staines met us on arrival and explained/showed us around, a very friendly and pleasant lady. We would like to add it was nice to be able to find somewhere that is dog friendly which is another bonus. We are seriously thinking of booking another week in September 2020.

We stayed at Pound Cottage in March, a beautiful conversion attached to the owners property. Welcomed by the owner Jenny who showed us around. And introduced our little Cockapoo, Janey, to the beautiful garden which she loved. The bathroom was lovely, bed extremely comfortable probably too much. Every thing was perfect and relaxing. Even our little dog refused to hop into our car for the journey home, she was cosy where she was. Thank you Jenny.

A very nice holiday home, spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped.. The patio area is lovely, though I wouldn't describe it as 'private' as in the cottage description, it is part of a larger patio area belonging to the owners house and is overlooked by that property. Dog owners please be aware that the garden/paddock area is not completely secure. The hamlet is quiet in general, however there is an industrial facility next door to the property. We were awoken by activity there very early in the morning. The work being carried out there was quite noisy at times, so I think it is worth mentioning this in the property description. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Pound Cottage is a superbly well presented holiday accommodation for two people.. It is spacious, light and airy. All the fixtures and fittings are of high quality. It is very quiet and has lovely views, but not too far from the Town and main roads. The walk in wet room is lovely. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Pound Cottage is a beautiful, modern cottage set in the lovely Devon countryside.. The cottage has everything you could wish for and in particular benefits from a superb wet room and one of the most comfortable king size beds we have ever experienced. The views from the cottage are spectacular, especially to the west and we were lucky enough to see some really amazing sunsets during our stay. We were given a very warm welcome by our lovely host Jenny who was so helpful in guiding us on places to visit. Nothing is too much trouble, thank you Jenny. Some of our favourites were Hartland Quay, Fremington Quay, Croyde Bay and Appledore (particularly the chocolate shop!!) For a quiet, peaceful base from which to explore North Devon, we cannot recommend Pound Cottage highly enough.

A fabulous week in a lovely cottage one of the best we've stayed in with a comfy bed, amazing shower plus a neff hide and slide oven ! Visited lots of places our favourites ilfacombe, Westward Ho ! Appledore and Instow. Fish and chips at taffs in Torrington was excellent. Thank you Jenny

The cottage was excellent, very spacious and had everything we needed.. It was very clean and also easy to get around with my restricted mobility. The wet room was also a big plus. It was in a lovely position with glorious views and a nice patio to sit on. The owner was very helpful with some guidance on a few places to visit.

This is the 2nd time of us staying at Pound cottage.. The owner met us on arrival and was very willing to offer help should you need it. The cottage is lovely and well appointed with all home comforts, as long as you are happy to be in a isolated village. Its in easy reach of tourist spots if you have a vehicle and the nearby pub/restaurant is only 3.5 miles away and was most welcoming with a very good and varied menu. This is a perfect 'retreat' in beautiful countryside, if you want to get away from everything (especially the telephone/mobile). Thankyou Jenny.
