The cabin is very clean, spacious and comfortable. There is ample secure area for the dogs to play and ample walking areas for to explore. There is really nothing negative to say about the area, the cabin or indeed the kindly owner, Lindsey, who whilst respecting our privacy, was kind enough to make sure all was well. The pizza oven was great and the jacuzzi was a delight. There is another cabin further up the hill but it certainly does not deter from any privacy you may wish to preserve and in no way intrusive. Absolutely Lovely Lindsey, Diolch.

The Lodge is more spacious than it appears on line. It is well equipped throughout. The Lodge is completely overlooked by Ploony Hill Cabin at the top of the hill (with the hot tub in full view) and is actually surrounded by the three other holiday homes here, all in close proximity. If you look at the comparison between the older photos of the Lodge's exterior, seen on the booking portals, and some recent photos in this review posting, you will see numerous discrepancies. Not least the above, and the fact that the exterior of the Lodge looks tired and in need of TLC. We experienced poor communication in the run-up to our stay here (a polite question was completely ignored by the male owner). Unfortunately Sykes Cottages was the only portal via which the booking could be made, so I would have lost the whole cost if I'd cancelled the holiday at that point. I was waiting for a parcel to arrive. Actually some bird feed, because there was none here. The female owner dropped the parcel in to me 24-hours after it was delivered to her cottage. It could have been something vital. As I write, somebody suddenly appeared at the back window - an unannounced visit by the owner - to clean the hot tub. Quite a surprise, I have to say. She rapped on the window and her first words were "Control your dog," who at that time was sitting down indoors and had barked once at the sudden intrusion. In fact this was all either of the owners had to say to me, aside from the female owner following up "Control your dog," with the usual cover-your-backside "Is everything all right" and "Do you need anything." I wasn't about to strike up a conversation. I just wanted to put the rudeness behind me. You will be sharing the broadband's basic-speed bandwidth allocation for the complex with the three other holiday homes, so expect barely useable broadband at peak activity times. The heating has been set to be barely warm. I have been cold in the living and sleeping areas from start to finish. Among the many diktats in the information pack, the owner actually says "Don't touch the heating." Another odd thing: in the arrival instructions, one is told to "Hoover up (sic) thoroughly before departure," with the insinuation you may lose your housekeeping bond otherwise. Complacency has many faces; this particular one is not very pleasant. I have found this whole experience depressing. This is not what a holiday should be like. Thank goodness the owner of the place I am going next is communicates and conducts business in a civilised manner.

It’s idilic, beautiful and so quiet. The lodge is supplied with a fantastic amount of facilities, hot tub and is full equipped for a self catering stay. We are business owners that wanted to get away from the hustle of working life and that was exactly what we needed ! Definitely returning !

This lodge is beautiful and is equipped with everything you need for self catering, it is very spacious inside and has an amazing hot tub. It is also lovely and warm. You do have to drive up a long sludgy potholed single farm track to reach the lodge which we did not realise so thought it was worth mentioning it. Darren was lovely and he is building another lodge which you can see further up the hill from Ploony Hill Lodge which also looks like it is going to be beautiful too. It is very peaceful & quiet here and quite remote, which we knew about so we took all our meals with us so it wasn't a problem for us. We had a fabulous chill out week here. Thank you.

Just back from a week at this idyllic lodge . Ideally situated for total peace and quiet. Hot tub is fabulous after a long walk. The lodge is well equipped, clean and tidy. Complimentary welsh cakes, flowers and wine were a lovely touch. The surrounding area is beautiful for exploring , remote but that’s just what we wanted .

What a gem of a lodge - cosy and warm (underflooring heating) clean, hot tub and so so peaceful - Loved the place so secluded, not bothered by anyone. Has everything in the lodge that you need - Plenty of books to read or games to play on those wet evenings.

Last October, while staying at Ploony Cottage, we were lucky enough to see the lodge being built. After seeing this and then seeing the lodge go ‘live’ with pictures - we thought we’d be prepared for the beauty of it...wrong! When entering the property on a Friday evening, feeling exhausted, we were just taken aback by the end result. As we had brought our elderly Springer, Sasha with us (14 1/14), who can barely walk, is almost completely blind & deaf, we were ‘forced’ to watch the sheep grazing on the hill, the squirrel doing its daily sprint across the field, the leaves falling from the trees and the endless species of birds - including Red Kite - flying around. We have used (and used and used) the hot tub at various times of the day and have watched the night roll in, gazed at a sky full of stars - seen my 1st ever shooting star...and on 31st October - Halloween- a warmer but misty night, we sat in the hot tub while bats flew around! Utterly amazing! This week has been well needed for both myself and my husband! After arriving feeling utterly exhausted, we have both been able to fully recharge our batteries. If you want to walk - there are walks. Tons of places to visit if you want to get out there. If you want to stay in - you’ll not be bored. I’m on my 3rd book - we’ve had matinee movie days and enjoyed an afternoon stroll around the garden - and on the last full day a gentle walk around the block. We have had the BIGGEST and best eggs ever from the free roaming chickens and basically caught our breath. A huge thank you to Darren & Lindsey for providing such a beautiful accommodation and the lovely flowers, wine and welsh cakes. We will definitely return.

Just got home from a week at plooney hill lodge and can't wait to book again, we had the most fabulous week, we have stayed in a lot of lodges round the UK and this was by far the best, total privacy, no naibours & a private garden the lodge is amazing with everything you need and more, we made full use of the outdoor pizza oven, bbq and hot tub, the owner darren is lovely and is there if you need anything but is not intrusive the location of this lodge is unreal and is perfect for couples or family's.

TOP CLASS LODGE. We have visited Ploony Cottage another property down the hill from the lodge on two occasions . During our first visit last april we were told about the plans for a lodge to be built up on the hillside next to the woodland and open fields. Then on our second visit in October the lodge was being built and Darren the owner walked us around telling us about all of the things that were being done to make this lodge to be of an exceptional standard. As soon as it was available for hire (WE BOOKED IT). We stayed there from 27th apr - 4th may and I have to say it did NOT disapoint , It is absolutely perfect. Hidden up the hill behind the trees you are in your own private enclosed garden which has an excellent pergoda covered BBQ and Bread or Pizza oven ( which ever you choose to use it as) , a large outdoor seating and a lawn area. The inside of this lodge is to an incredible standard. it has underfloor heating that can be individually controlled in each room, Bright comfortable bedrooms , an open an lounge kitchen and dining room again which is bright , warm and finished to a very high standard with everything you need to hand . NOW the HotTub , kicking back after a hard day walking with the dogs , a glass of wine in hand , that wonderful view and the vast array of wildlife AHHHHH (PERFECTION!!). By night this place is a stargazers dream with no light pollution. This Lodge will not disappoint and the owners Darren and Lyndsey will do everything they can to make your stay at Ploony Hill Lodge a memorable one and they really do go that extra mile that makes this place extra special.

This little corner of the world is wonderful. The owners have done a fabulous job on the lodge and it’s so peaceful. It’s a proper little palace and I can’t wait to go back again. Thank you guys.

The lodge had everything we had hoped for ...and more. Clean, well equipped in a wonderful location and very comfortable. The sparkling bathroom was like something from a glossy magazine - gorgeous! The beautiful eight seat luxury hot tub was within one pace of the patio doors which meant that we didn't have to freeze en route back to the lodge! The garden was well enclosed and safe for our Labrador to run around freely although his favourite place was spreadeagled on the lodge floor as he benefited from the underfloor heating! If you can tear yourself away from the lodge, it is a reasonable distance from various places to see including Croft Castle (dog friendly), Berrington Hall, Offa's Dyke walks, Tenbury Wells with a lovely selection of unique shops. and the wonderfully named 'Water Break It's Neck' waterfall. The Space Guard Centre is just a few miles down the road and they do a 90 minute talk and tour explaining you all they do there if space and science is your 'thing', this is well worth a visit. If you fancy a trip to the coast we found Aberystwyth was worth the drive out on a sunny day. Our hosts Darren and Lindsey were very friendly and helpful if we needed them but respected our privacy too. We had wonderful week and are looking forward to returning in the near future.

WOW. what a great little find. We have stayed in quite a few lodges with hot tubs around the uk. And this is definitely the best. The lodge has been completed to an extremely high standard and everything has been thought out. The location is fantastic, tucked out of the way at the back of the farm with miles of walks on your door step. Darren and linsey are extremely friendly and made you feel very welcome. We was here during lambing season and were lucky enough to see a number of lambs seeing born. Darren is always on hand for anything. From a little question to recommending days out. Welcoming treat is the lodge was a great touch. And even our dog was not left out with treats for her as well. All in all a fantastic lodge in a great location and fantastic owners. You will not be disappointed. There is no question that we will return here. Thanks for great week away Darren and linsey. Dave, Stacey and Molly.

We've just come back from a fabulous break at Ploony Hill Lodge. A peaceful, private and pleasurable place to stay, off the beaten track from a very small village of Beddfa. We were greeted with some lovely touches, wine, flowers and homemade Welsh cakes. The owners Darren and Lindsey make you feel very welcomed. A new modern lodge. All mod cons etc. Underfloor heating was a treat! The hot tub was amazing and we used it daily both in the day (listening to woodpeckers)and by night (listening to the hooting of owls Our dogs were happy to, making friends with the owners dogs and safely fenced in to roam throughout the day as well as their daily walks in feilds surrounding the property. The only thing the kids complained at was the Wi-Fi was a llittle sporadic but it gave them a chance to read books that we brought from a few charity shops on day trips out to Leominster/Llandindod wells/Knighton. The week was such a chillaxed time. We didn't want to leave, in fact if we could have picked it up and took it with us we would. Would give consideration to renting Ploony Cottage which is owned by the same people and just below the Lodge anther time.
