Stayed here for a week with a party of 12 adults, 4 kids and a big dog. The house is superb with more than enough room for the 18 capacity. Rooms are decorated and furnished to fit the early 20th century feel of the property (Built circa 1905) and we found it comfortable although the sofas in the lounge were quite saggy and really needed renovating, also a few chairs in the hall needed the seats renewing. Other than this the property seemed well maintained and the extensive gardens are magnificent (gardener comes twice a week). There is a large lounge equipped with a rather dated flat screen TV (but who comes to the Welsh countryside to watch TV). The dining room has a large 18 seat table which was great for family gatherings at dinner and there was also a more cosy breakfast room next to the kitchen which was always warm with the heat from the always on AGA in the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge (although we did find this quickly filled with food for 16 of us) and a separate freezer (In a pantry area off the kitchen) plus dish washer and washing machine also in the pantry. There is an always on AGA plus a separate Gas Range cooker. We did have an issue with the Gas Range when we were there when it suddenly went faulty but Caroline the owner was quickly on hand and provided us with an alternative. There was a good selection of cutlery utensils, glasses and cups to cater for 18. The grounds are extensive and well maintained. Our kids (and big kids) loved playing on the large lawn out of the front of the property whilst adults watched on from the large veranda. We found this a superb facility for early evening wind downs after days out discovering the local countryside and coast. The house is perfectly located far enough out in the county and up a long drive to feel secluded and yet only 10 minutes walk into the village of Llanbedr with its lovely Victoria Inn and only 10 minutes drive to the beach or the larger town of Harlech (With its castle). Overall I would be very happy to recommend this property for large groups.

This house is amazing, absolutely beautiful, with a mix of old and new.. The house is equipped with everything you would need for a get away and the hospitality was brilliant. It's close by to shops and pubs and the nearby walks are stunning.

We really enjoyed our extended family holiday and a 90th Birthday celebration at Plas Gwynfryn.. The kids particularly loved the large house and extensive gardens as did we all. The area is wonderful and the staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. For a large group, such as ours, it was also very reasonably priced.

Wonderful house in a beautiful location.. Spacious rooms and plenty of communal areas for our extended family (and dog) to enjoy. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to self cater for our Christmas week very comfortably. The owner Caroline was attentive and helpful. The Wi-fi signal struggled a bit, but for us that was not a big issue. We’d thoroughly recommend this house for a group of friends or large family.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Plas Gwynfryn.. It was the perfect size for the whole family (13 of us - with ranging ages from 25 - 82) to relax and not feel overcrowded. We booked it to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday which was a surprise (he was so overwhelmed by everyone being there and in a such amazing setting). The house felt really comfortable and homely, you can tell that a lot of time and care has been put into the upkeep. There we're lots of nice little touches, logs and kindling to use for the log burners, sky tv, and a it was very kind of the hosts to provide us with some provisions. The grounds are stunning, we enjoyed exploring them and the location is perfect, surrounded by mountains and not far (walking distance) from shops and a pub. We received a warm welcome from Christine and Paddy who really took the time to show us around. Caroline was also fantastic, always just a text away and was very helpful. The whole family had a such great weekend, we just wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks again to Caroline, Christine and Paddy :)

A most fantastic weekend break.. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location, the house is absolutely beautiful, the beds are comfy and the gardens are a dream. We couldn’t have asked for more! The only small hint I would give is to bring a knife sharpener if you are cooking butternut squash soup like us ;)

There was initial confusion about the extra £250 Good Housekeeping Bond.. The property was large, for 18 people: the dishwasher broke halfway through the week and the frig leaked throughout the week and we had no control over the heating. The dishwasher was not fixed and the compensation we received was two bottles of wine, a wheelbarrow full of logs, additional tea towels, a bottle of fairy liquid, two sponges and several apologies. It did not seem to add up. It was also advertised that there was a possibility of outside catering at the property and we were then quoted £45 head for a 3 course meal. When I mentioned that I found that a bit pricey but was interested in other options the outside caterers let me know that they were no longer available. Brilliant location, lovely house and gardens and great pub, Ty Mawr, nearby. We had a great time!

Excellent Caroline was really lovely and helpful, plenty to do around the area, grounds are lovely to walk around, played murder mystery at the manor which was brilliant with the setting the house is in, well worth a visit ..

I booked the house with my partner and 10 friends to celebrate my 50th birthday and had a wonderful time in this beautiful house and grounds making happy memories. The house is close to the lovely village and beach and a short walk from 3 pubs. The house is full of character, tastefully decorated, comfortable and clean rooms. Kitchen fully equipped and spacious pantry. Bedrooms spacious, bathrooms lovely with plenty of room to find your own space. The extensive private gardens and grounds are beautifully kept. The house is well maintained and well equipped. We were very well looked after by Chris and Paddy, who with their team prepared, cooked and served a superbly delicious home cooked meal to top restaraunt standard. They dressed the table with flowers and herbs and it could not have been a more perfect setting for the unexpected added surprise of a marriage proposal. This was kindly followed the next morning, with a bottle of fizz and card from Caroline the owner. We laughed, we cried and had so much fun at Plas Gwynfryn. It is a special week I will never forget, in a beautiful setting with loved ones. We all looked forward to the week and it certainly exceeded our expectations. We will return. x

This is a delightful house, tastefully refurbished to reflect its age and character.. The location is ideal, nestled in the most beautiful landscaped gardens and providing easy access to the Snowdonia National Park or if inclined the beautiful beaches of Harlech and others. The town of Llanbedr is in easy walking distance and provides a great pub, a number of very nice restaurants and a little village shop. There were 12 of us and a couple of dogs, the dogs could safely roam the gardens sniffing out rabbits and other wonders, whilst we played croquet and the youngsters went to the town or walking in the ‘sunshine’ !!. No downside to this place we felt well looked after by the owner, gardener, caterers and cake maker (my wife’s birthday). I think we all shed a tear when we left and will certainly return.

Plas Gwynfryn is a fabulous base for exploring the surrounding area.. The grounds are spectacular, our children from 4yrs to 11 had a great time adventuring around the garden and the lawns are perfect for a game of rounders! The bedrooms are very comfortable and quite luxurious, the hot water for showers can be a bit temperamental when with a large group, but the bathrooms are all very nice. The downstairs living space is great with a very large but cosy lounge. The kitchen is quite well equipped but it is quite small and quite difficult to navigate when you're cooking for a large group. Overall we had a fantastic stay in North Wales, I would definitely recommend Plas Gwynfryn to friends and family.

We stayed as a group of friends including 10 adults and 8 children. The house is fantastic and it was a real pleasure to stay in such an impressive home. The house and gardens are huge and very well kept; despite there being 18 of us we never felt on top of one another. The children had a fantastic time exploring the gardens and made the lounge their own den! We also travelled with two dogs who loved the courtyard and gardens. All in all a great house in a fantastic location - less than 5 minutes walk from local pubs, restaurants and shops.

Quite simply breathtaking! Such a find I almost don't want to tell anyone about it. Everything about the house is amazing, but the icing on the cake for us were the catering company that the house recommended. We were spoiled rotten all weekend.

This is a fantastic place as a base to explore this great corner of Wales. Locally there are a couple of pubs, about five minute walk away and a little supermarket in the village, take a torch though as when it's dark here it is dark! It is a great setting for a house. The grounds are lovely, huge lawns and some great rock garden areas to explore, the dogs we had with us were in heaven. The house looks amazing from the outside. It's hard to be too critical of such a grand house but it could be taken to another level, inside it just wasn't as grand as the outside! It was a little tired and would need some money spending on it, soft furnishings, sofas, new carpets, which were getting thread bare on stares. A jacuzzi and a good sound system would be great additions. The dining area also smelt of cigarette smoke but it was certainly large enough for us all. The Wifi never worked for anyone, good in some ways I suppose, all of us love a bit of surfing, it did of course make us more sociable though! In a rental like this all of the rooms really should have ensuites and downstairs another bathroom would be a good idea. The kitchen also needs a bit of attention, it wasn't the sexy new kitchen most of us love. It has two ovens, which were fine but the fridge was poor as was the sink, they don't belong in such a great building. That said it was full of character and charm, we had a superb time and don't let my comments put you off staying here or having your wedding, it was great.

Received a very warm welcome from Patrick and Christine, the owners representatives, who showed us around the house and pointed out the various facilities and fire exits.. The building and its contents were well maintained and presented, and there were more than enough facilities to occupy everyone. The grounds are quite large, and very well maintained and a credit to the gardener whom we often saw beavering away in the distance. Overall an excellent holiday accommodation, and one we would highly recommend.

We booked the property for an extended family get together for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The kitchen was really well stocked making it easy to cater for large family meals, the bedrooms all beautifully decorated and comfortable and the gardens were just amazing for games and wandering around. It did get a little cool in the evenings so we made good use of the wood burning stoves in the main entrance hall and lounge. A lovely place to spend time

Very high standard of accommodation with lots of space for our extended family to stay without being on top of each other. This place was an amazing find for a family celebration. The house is so well equipped and pretty much everything you could need to cater for 10 in the kitchen. The gardens were absolutely spectacular - and we all enjoyed exploring them (there are steep areas that would not be good for anyone wobbly on their feet). However there are also great expanses of beautiful, lawned areas. Minutes to the beautiful beaches. We had an absolutely amazing week and I have no doubt we will be back again very soon. Was such a breath taking property and even better because we could take our dogs too.

Plas Gwynfryn is a large house that accommodated our family perfectly.. The dinning room and lounge were amazing and the children loved the freedom to roam the house. The room next to the kitchen served us well for breakfasts and lunch and doubled as a small playroom. The garden is spectacular with extensive lawns and winding paths around trees and shrubbery.

Fantastic gardens, beautiful and lots of space for the children to play (and the dog!). The house has such character and beauty. It's a joy even to just stand at the sink and do the dishes looking out on the lawn! Very relaxing and a beautiful location. There is a fantastic view from every window. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The interconnecting Family room was of particular use to us. You can keep the children close without disturbing them when you go to bed. Perfect. Loved cooking on an AGA for the first time but for choice there is also a gas cooker, which is useful and also WiFi was very useful. Loved the place. Want to go back!

14-17 family members including an infant and a few stayed only an evening stayed at this beautiful well kept manor. We stayed over the Easter holiday and had a truly wonderful time. The kitchen was well equipped to handle large meals for everyone as well as the large dining room table where everyone could eat together. The gardens are beautiful and we spend many sunny days (yes sun!) outside playing cricket and giranemo (giant jenga). In the evenings we would play games in the large family room. Everyone had plenty of space and they were so accommodating to my infant supplying us with highchair and pack and play. The bathrooms are lovely and you are within walking distance to town. This manor and the keeper, Caroline was absolutely amazing. Being able to stay in such a beautiful, loved home with such a large group was wonderful. There are several trails and hikes right off the property and space everywhere. I would absolutely recommend Plas Gwynfryn to anyone looking to have a comfortable, top notch stay in Wales/Gwynedd. And a bonus, Castle Harlech is very close and so worth the trip!!

A group of friends who met as students in 1969 - five boys and one girl - plus three wives who've come long since all get together once a year, and this year I found Plas Gwynfryn which looked like a great place for us. And that's exactly how it turned out. Excellent accommodation in an excellent location with access to such a great variety of holiday activities, from castles to countryside, from great little railways to sandy beaches.
