Area
Renowned for being the prettiest village in the Lake District, the small town of Cartmel in South Lakeland is a wonderful, picturesque holiday destination. Amidst cobbled streets and pretty streamside walks, are a range of quaint gift shops, antique shops, traditional pubs that serve real ale and the nationally renowned Michelin-starred restaurant L'Enclume. A well-loved destination for hill-walkers, the region is full of excellent trails through stunning, unspoilt countryside. In addition, there is the Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition, Lakeland Motor Museum and Hunt Racecourse all in the near vicinity. With Windermere and Grange-over-Sands only a few minutes away, there's plenty for everyone to do.

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

The lodge was great for our needs.. Cartmel is a lovely village and the closeness of the lodge makes it very accessible. The site was peaceful and the wild birds are very beautiful. Especially the woodpecker we saw on the bird feeder. We have 2 dogs, one of which gets very excited and noisy when he sees other dogs, so unfortunately he was often seeing the owners dog and going potty, but the owners were fine about this and were very welcoming. The lodge has everything you would need but the only thing I would say to people who are booking is read about the wifi. You are given 1gig which is fine as it says in the book for emails and browsing but as we were watching catch-up tv on our iPads it was gone in no time. It did say to ask if you need more but we didn't bother. Great holiday and would visit again.

Amazing location, beautiful lodge accommodation with fantastic storage.. We travelled on motorbike but all out gear was safely stored out of the way. Gorgeous location - very peaceful with lovely decking areas to relax. Lovely pre-contact from the owners ensuring we knew information. Property allows 2 dogs but there was no lingering smell or dog hair - the place was spotlessly clean. Will return to this particular accommodation and recommend highly to others.

This was such a beautifully presented delightful lodge.. The finishing touches provided by the owners were perfect. From the sticky toffee pudding waiting for us in the fridge to the little tub of dog treats and toy for our dog. We loved every minute of our stay here, the location was great and we went on some superb walks. I would go back to Pippin in a heart beat .

Pippin is a delightful lodge suitable for a couple who enjoy the countryside and looking for a comfortable, very warm and cosy and very well appointed accomodation with lovely little touches which we loved , like the real Christmas tree all lit up with lights on the balcony to the little welcome tray with lovely chocolates.. The lodge is very clean and obviously very well cared for by the owners who live next door and are very friendly and very approachable.Cartmel is a beautiful lakeland village and well worth a visit .There are many restaurants, pubs and eateries all within a few minutes drive who offer excellent food and are very friendly and welcoming. Its a great location for visiting the lakes and dales area. We would love to return in the future and can recommend this lovely little lodge. Thank you for our lovely stay.

Lovely welcome from the owners on arrival and a lovely welcome to the lodge with milk and toffee pudding in the fridge which I though was a lovely tough.. The Lodge was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for your stay. I can not fault anything in the Lodge and would not improve it. The owners had though of everything to make ours and the dogs stay perfect including leaving a treat for the dog on the side which she ate straight away. We were in the perfect place for hikes and excursions and it was lovely coming back and relaxing after a busy day. We cooked all our mails in the lodge and enjoyed the treacle toffee pudding left for us by the owner. The only draw back of the holiday for me was getting up every morning and having to get dressed to take the dog out to do her business instead of just letting her out of the door but that could be helped and took nothing away from everything else. We have booked to go again in October and are looking forward to it.

Kevin and Kath are lovely owners always on hand if needed, we made a request late last night for some kindling for the fire and Kevin was imedate it his response even delivering it to the lodge for us. Only 1 week after the devastating floods that hit Cumbria, we were booked to stay for a long weekend at Pippin Lodge. Apart from a few poor souls on the A590 this area appeared relatively unscathed. On Arrival we were greeted by a spacious, well equipped, centrally heated lodge and the log burner was a real treat. We soon learnt you need to turn the radiator thermostat's right down when you light the burner and only burn one log at a time or by 9.30 the heat is unbearable . Also keep the bedroom door closed until you go to bed to keep the heat out. The lodge is only a few months old so it's spotless . The owners live in a larger lodge opposite that's only been on site since November so further landscaping is due once weather permits. Arriving on Friday we only had time for a short walk with the dogs before dark, then it was time to light the burner and crack open a bottle of wine. Once you have used your starter pack additional logs are available for a small fee. Saturday rained nearly all day , a short trip to the well stocked Booths supermarket at ulveston followed by a look around the small village of cartmell, with its quaint shops it's well worth a visit, then back to the lodge to crack open a bottle of wine. Sunday we woke to a lovely hard frost, a brisk early morning walk with the dogs with snow topped fells in the distance, beautiful. Another walk along the promenade at Grange over Sands with views over the bay and away from traffic it's great for dogs & young children. After lunch we visited wax lyrical ,if scented candles & diffusers are your thing it's well worth a visit. Drove on the Barrow, by then the rain had returned & the draw of the log burner & a bottle of wine was proving to strong. Monday morning arrived to soon, we'd had a wonderful relaxing weekend( the wine may have helped). We would like to wish Kevin & Kath good luck with their new venture although I doubt they'll need it as I cannot see anyone being disappointed with this lodge. We have just booked another lodge near Conniston for Easter week, had Pippin not already been booked we would have been back there. There's always next year! A quick visit to the well stocked farm shop at Low Sizergh on the way home.
