Peaceful, extremely comfortable holiday cottage.. A place to get away from busy life and chill. You need to be reasonably agile to get up and down the spiral staircase, but quite safe. Beautifully furnished, and scrupulously clean.

Steve and Mike were the perfect hosts very friendly but not in an intrusive way and we would like to thank them for the Lemon Drizzle cake that was on the table on arrival.. The cottage is the perfect place for exploring the Lakes and West Yorkshire and at the end off the day relaxing to the peace and quite of the country side. The only drawback of Pickle Cottage is if you have trouble walking or are on the large side the spiral staircase would be very difficult to ascend. The cottage has good WiFi and every thing one would need for wining and dining and we hope to return in the future.

Our second time staying here welcomed by consummate hosts Mike and Steve. Cottage set in beautiful natural grounds with great views lay out is upside down with sleeping and showers and bath on lower level this has underfloor heating The property is comfortable and fitted out to a high level with everything you could need including a stable WiFy It’s location is perfect for access to The Norh Dales and the lakes. It’s a hikers and walkers paradise and even right on the door step there are really good walks including Hutton Roof Crags. Wake up to the sound of peace and bird song I would give this cottage a 10 out 10. We loved it here wanted to stay longer

We would recommend Pickle Cottage for anyone looking for the Perfect place to just relax and unwind , peace and quiet in abundance.. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a very comfortable stay there and the owners make you feel very welcome and are there if you need any information on anything ,but leave you alone otherwise. We spent a wonderful week there and the cottage is perfectly situated to explore North Yorkshire and the Lake district .

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location.. The challenge of the spiral staircase was easily overcome. The shower over the bath is a bit of a pain, as is there being no dishwasher!

We received a friendly welcome from the owners. Pickle Cottage is in an excellent position near the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, lots to do. There are many local walks without having to get in the car and a variety of places to eat in the evenings, plus good shopping at Kirkby Lonsdale. We rented both Pickle Cottage and Pickle Barn for a family get-together.

November 2010
Seating/lounge area was not very comfortable; would suggest a comfortable settee rather than two recliners - it did not feel "cosy" of an evening; also no fire/focal point of heating.

December 2009
Very friendly welcome from the owner, with a gift of a bottle of wine and free-range eggs. The cottage is quite private, cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. It's ideally placed to explore both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, with shops nearby in Kirkby Lonsdale and plenty of places to eat out. The bedroom is delightful though the spiral iron staircase to the upper floor is quite narrow and might prove difficult for some to negotiate, especially with a suitcase! This is the first holiday rental we feel we might actually return to in future.

We were met by Liz who is very welcoming and friendly. She showed us around the cottage which was lovely and homely. The living area and kitchen are warm and spacious. The bedroom is large and bed is huge. The location was just on the edge of the Lakes which is great if you just want a taster ready for further exploring another time. The only draw back the spiral stairs!

If you want to tour both the Lakes and the Dales, this is a perfect spot. The Cottage itself is pretty much faultless with a very friendly and helpful host. You may get a visit from the inquisitive hens!
Mrs Williams

August 2009
What a little gem this cottage turned out to be! The location of Pickle Farm was beautiful with stunning views, and the property has been converted and restored to a high standard. The garden areas are beautifully kept and the owner gave us a warm welcome complete with afternoon tea and fresh homemade scones, as well as a bottle of wine! The tourist information for things to do in the area is also excellent in the cottage. We would definitely love to return at some point in the future!
