Location.... Easy access to local shops, half hour walk to beach. Very noisy neighbours to both sides and houses across the road all day and 2 nights (2am) Hardware shop noisy due to deliveries at 8.00 every morning Penny cottage .... Cosy and comfortable cottage with a very secure garden. Conservatory was lovely. Dishwasher and washing machine would be a good idea. Two single beds very creaky and bedding for these bed very poor. Main bedroom bed and bedding very good. A nice cottage but would not recommend if you are looking for a quiet break due to noise.

Lovely cottage, we pretty much had what we needed, shame there was only just a few small poor quality pans.. When you are self catering you need some half decent pans, a £30-40 investment makes a big difference to your holiday. Also no washing machine there is plenty of room to have one fitted and a holiday cottage essential. But the cottage was very nice clean and comfortable and Heacham is a lovely place to stay with every thing you needed just a walk away, various takeaways and restaurants shops and pubs. Lovely log fire, which was cosy for the evenings.

Hi, just a few small things, flooring near kitchen is quite worn and damaged, shower plug full of previous occupants hair also, pots, pans and plates required cleaning before we could use them, cottage in a good location..

Clean and comfortable and well stocked cottage in a pleasant location.. I was relieved because I had read a previous negative review on here. There IS a freezer and neighbours are pleasant. I very much enjoyed my holiday.

We stayed in this cottage in the first week of August. We arrived on the Friday evening and found the cottage to be dirty: the bathroom bin had not been emptied from the previous residents, a tooth paste stained glass was left on a filthy glass shelf in the bathroom, the fridge was dirty, the kettle splashed with stains, filthy light switches, black dust on the bathroom radiator, furry dust on the light fittings and curtain rails, filthy cushions and filthy sofa with ingrained dirt. I rang Sykes cottages straight away, they tried contacting the owner via email/text/phone and despite me contacting them every day, the owner didn’t respond until Tuesday, clearly not concerned. Despite much toing and froing I was only offered a £50 refund and told that the sofa was to be replaced! The street is opposite social housing which isn’t a problem in itself however the neighbours were often found to be shouting and arguing in the street about who has hit whose son! The nearest beach is a good 20 min walk not 10 mins as advertised and we walk at an average pace. I would not recommend a stay here and would not recommend Sykes cottages as they absolve all blame onto the owner, they could have refunded their booking fee and being more proactive in contacting us.

Penny Cottage is in a good location for the beach, village and places of interest.. We appreciated the off-road parking and safe, enclosed garden for our puppy. The cottage is really dog friendly as an added bonus is the door at the bottom of the stairs so no paws padding upstairs and no need for our stairgate. South Beach is brilliant for dogs too. The rooms are all well-equipped and were clean on arrival. there is plenty of storage in the bedrooms and the wet room downstairs is spacious. We were in Heacham during the hottest day in July and must admit, a freezer would have been useful, rather than just a fridge. Also, while we knew there was no washing machine, on reflection, that would have been useful too. On the downside, the cream leather suite was a little tired and grubby, throws did nothing the brighten this up as they kept slipping off, and the laminate flooring near the kitchen area seems to be breaking up.

Cottage is set in a very pretty quaint town .. All shops and pubs with real ale on the doorstep. Positive aspects are enclosed garden for the dog and driveway parking. Disappointed no washing machine or freezer. Although there is a washing line in garden. We bought some ice cream which was wasted however that was only a minor irritation. On the whole we had a very nice week exploring North Norfolk and we will definitely come back.

We stayed Nov/December which was cold so coming back to a warm cosy cottage was welcome.. Overall it is a very nice place to stay, - comfortable and in a good location. Unfortunately the only downside was the single bed near the window, it was a camp bed suitable for children. The mattress needs to be changed to something more firm for an adult. The result of this for me was an uncomfortable and fitful sleep.

Everything we needed for a relaxing week away, especially enjoyed the many walks from the doorstep, dog friendly pubs and only about 10 minutes brisk walk to the lovely beech.. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

A lovely place to stay. The owner has taken great care to provide everything you need for a comfortable stay in the house. It was spotlessly clean and very very comfortable. It was warm, cosy, very quiet and with a perfect car parking space and a lovely private garden. The interior was lovely and the bedrooms spacious. A lovely quiet village, with all the amenities within walking distance, including a brilliant dog friendly beach.

It was a lovely, spotlessly clean and very comfortable property.. The owner had gone to a great deal of effort to provide everything needed for the perfect place to stay. The little things made a great deal of difference. Lovely garden, very quiet neighbourhood and excellent parking area. I would highly recommend this property. All you need is within walking distance and has a brilliant dog friendly beach. Absolutely loved it.

Having a read a bad review about this cottage before my holiday, I contacted Sykes about my concerns before the holiday and was reassured these issues had been raised with the owner.. Sykes excuse that cleanliness standards may slip in summer due to high client turnover was not acceptable! I need not have wasted my time contacting Sykes though, as the owner had clearly not taken on board previous feedback. The cottage was generally clean and potentially could be really lovely, but as the earlier bad review highlighted, there were some issues. The flooring downstairs in the lounge/dining room is bad. We also found the oven and pans were dirty (someone had stacked dirty pans with kitchen towel between them - is this someone living there between guests doing this?) We therefore had to wash everything before first use because of this. The bedding and towels were also of very poor quality and are really only suitable for the recycling bin. The beds are also in need of updating. On the plus side, the shower was great and the cottage is in a very quiet location near to shops. However, I would not stay here again with it being in its current condition. As for why I did not complain about this before my return - I was on holiday and did not want to spend my time on the phone to Sykes again or the owner. We used the cottage as a base and just had to gloss over the bad parts. Such a shame as with more care and attention it could be a great little cottage. Based on this experience, I'm not sure I would book again with Sykes, as it would seem you are not thoroughly vetting your holiday rentals.

Apparently I am the first person to complain about this cottage. We visited in early May before the start of the season and it has taken me this long to write the review because I was waiting for a response from the owner. On first site it looks amazing, unfortunately that is not the case. The laminate floor in the dining room is all loose and pinches your feet when you walk on it. The furniture is dirty and covered with fleeces, the cushions are a disgrace. The oven is dirty and the pans are so grim we had to cover them with foil. The second bed in the twin room is more like a camp bed and the pillows had no protectors on and were dirty. The conservatory furniture was not as advertised and of a very cheap make. They stairs were so very steep with a dangerous bottom step. There is no back entrance to bring dogs through and the notes relating to the property are wrong. But hey the shower room was great!! I have provided Sykes with photographic evidence and I am being told that they can not get hold of the owner to discuss this but they are still renting this property out at a high rate.

Penny Cottage was centrally located in Heacham, very convenient for shops and take aways.. A new Lidl store within easy walking distance opened while we were there. Heacham was a good location from which to visit Sandringham, and the Military Museum at Muckleburgh had a comprehensive collection of tanks and other equipment with the option of driving a tracked military vehicle if booked in advance.

Just had a weekend away in this beautiful cosy warm cottage set in a quiet steet in the lovely village of heacham. Very clean and well looked after. Beautiful garden. In walking distance to beach and shops. On bus route to either hunstanton and kings Lynn. Will definitely stay there again.

We had a really enjoyable week in this cottage, it is in a great position, everything you need is in walking distance, shops, pubs, restaurants, brill!! The cottage itself is on a quiet street and is warm and cosy, it is extremely well kitted out and is a real home from home, the sunny conservatory is lovely to relax in. The garden is ideal, not overlooked and completely enclosed. All in all a great place to stay to enjoy North Norfolk.

Quaint cottage in the heart of a Norfolk village. Easy walking to beaches, pubs and all local attractions on the door step. Ideal for touring the area or staying local. Warm and cosy cottage with a rustic feel with modern shower room plus modern facilities. Conservatory plus fenced back garden was perfect for sitting in the winter sunshine and letting my dog play freely. We had a lovely stay here

I took some considerable time to write a feedback on this cottage last year but you didn't publish it.. The feedback this year would be the same ,so you can use that.

We booked for a week to be close to an elderly relative who was celebrating an 80th birthday. A few points have been glossed over in the description, such as the steep staircase. The gas oven/hob (very grubby) is decidedly dodgy and needs attention. The roasting tins were so disgusting I had to line them with tin foil to use. The shower keeps going cold every couple of minutes. The cushions on the couch are in need of a wash - better to have no cushions than dirty ones. The worst problem though was the so called twin room. One of the beds is not a proper bed and is hard and very uncomfortable. I had to go and buy a mattress topper. The property's best feature is the garden but even then, the grass hadn't been cut for a good while. I feel with a few simple tweaks and not too much money spent, this house could be brought up to scratch. We left a day early due to the ghastly bed.
