Mr Nicholson, September 2020
We had a lovely stay at Penny and Stefan's farmhouse.. It was clear that great efforts had been made to make the farmhouse 'COVID-safe', which made us feel immediately relaxed. The farmhouse is set slightly apart from the other buildings, and although Penny and Stefan were around and on hand, if we needed them, we felt our privacy was totally respected. It was a delight to be surrounded by picturesque countryside and 'big skies', and on the whole, the weather was great. Curious brown hens came by the kitchen window each day and we watched swallows impressively building their nest in the back porch-way throughout the week. Penny and Stefan patiently chatted to us about running a small holding, showed us their pigs and introduced us to their VERY friendly Shetland sheep, some of which LOVE to be petted!
New Quay is a short drive away and parking is easy (and currently free!) at the top of the little harbour town. Ceredigion was not at all over-crowded during our stay (the last week of July), and by timing our visits to the beach until later in the day, we found we had lots of space on the beaches we visited. The coastal path was also quieter than expected and did not disappoint, with stunning views akin to Cornwall! We sighted dolphins EVERY DAY, whenever we were close to the sea and saw some curious Atlantic grey seals a couple of times, too. We would highly recommend this accommodation and location for a guaranteed relaxing break!
