Lodge was lovely.. Only issue we had was that tumble dryer didn't work and we had lots of wet clothing due to weather. Property owner checked it and assured us it worked. Although it operated, there was no heat. Everything else was very good.

The accommodation was exactly as expected and the owners were extremely helpful.. We needed a cot for our grandson. On the day we arrived the owners discovered the cot was broken and went out of there way to ensure the got the missing part. Plenty of room for the wee one to run around. A nice break away from home for everyone.

This was a very comfortable lodge in a beautiful location.. It was well provided with oven ware and crockery. It mentions a sea view in the description which is actually only visible when you lean over the fence at the bottom of the garden. The countryside views are wonderful however. The garden is described as private but it is not fenced off and open to the parking area and driveway, which could cause a problem for those with young children and is not somewhere to sit for breakfast etc. I have also never been asked to strip the beds before I leave a Sykes property before which wasn't a problem but surely part of the owners cleaning routine before the next guests arrive. Having said that it wouldn't stop me from booking this lodge again if we revisit Northumberland.

Very well equipped and in a lovely setting.. The garden area was brilliant for children and the viewed to the castle and sea where lovely. A very peaceful place with a huge amount of places to visit nearby.

The cottage itself was in the perfect location for what we wanted in terms of rural setting and ease of exploring te area.. The problem with this cottage was the inaccurate representation of the standard of the cottage, and the huge failure in not mentioning that this was a smoking cottage - I, along with my young son (age 2) have severe asthma and both had issues throughout the holiday with the unground smell (especially in the lounge) of stale smoke. On the Thursday night (2nd Nov) my asthma was so bad we decided to pack up and head home. On top of this the cleanliness of the lodge left a lot to be desired, along with the rubdown quality of all the furnishings - the curtains in the main lounge area were disgraceful. To add insult to injury, we looked at our friends lodge who paid exactly the same price as us, to see there's was a much higher calibre, well maintained and very clean. Overall a very disappointing experience with the only redeeming feature being the locality.
