What a fantastic find, such a lovely apartment for two in a perfect location for exploring the local area. Everything there you would need other than your toiletries. We cooked in and ate out some nights as there were some nice pubs and restaurants in walking distance. We went to see the sights as all were in a radius of 25 miles so back in time for evening drinks. We had a very warm welcome from Jackie and also a welcome bottle of wine and choccies. We were from Cardiff so to travel all the way we were well satisfied with what we had rented. Would definitely stay again.

We were made to feel most welcome by Jacqui and really appreciated the welcome pack.. The flat was spotlessly clean and the kitchen contained everything you need plus more, the lounge and bedroom were very comfortable. Although we had already planned our week there were leaflets and recommendations from other visitors - there is something for everyone and it easily warrants another visit. Of all the trips we did my favourite was a trip to Roker and Seaburn - parking is only £3 a day and you can have a guided tour of the lighthouse, a walk along the front and the National Glass Centre is also within walking distance.

A return visit to this lovely clean, comfortable and we'll appointed apartment.. A perfect base to explore Weardale and Teesdale. Greeted by the owner to show you around the apartment and general information about the village, very informative and useful. A generous welcome pack of victuals left for your enjoyment. The bed is very comfortable and I have come back home very rested and relaxed even after a busy week of activities. Wolsingham village is well appointed with shops, eateries and the people always speak and are friendly. Walking guides of circular walks starting in the village are available in the apartment. There is a range in distance and difficulty of the walk, to do. The two I have completed were delightful. This week I visited, High and Low Force Waterfalls, Lanchester Garden Centre then a Family circular walk around Wolsingham, Killhope Lead Mine Museum, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal (1 hour 10 mins away by car), Low Barnes Nature Reserve (saw a Kingfisher or two) and Escomb Anglo-Saxon Church, which is on a pilgrimage route for St. Bede. So much to see and do. This area is a hidden gem England. I will return.

The owners were friendly and provided a welcome pack which was helpful.. Sykes need to update their records as local pub has now closed and you use Barclays Bank as a reference point in your directions which is also closed. The village cafes are excellent for breakfasts, however would recommend a visit to a supermarket before arrival as local shops are limited. The area is beautiful and we visited lots of interesting places. The villages is pretty and worth going on a walk around for the views.

We were met by the owner, Jackie, who showed us around and explained everything to us. The apartment was very warm and comfortable and relaxing. Jackie kindly left a very nice welcome pack. It is an ideal base for visiting all that Durham and North Yorkshire has to offer, being ideally placed close to Barnard Castle and Durham, as well as Richmond. Although we were told of the parking problems that we may encounter in the private lane, we never had any problem in finding a spot on our return from each excursion.

A charming, cosy property, and it was obvious that a great deal of thought, care, and effort had been put in.. The kitchen was well equipped and set out, the bed was extremely comfy, and everything was clean, tidy, and in good condition. There were a couple of minor issues, such as not being able to connect my blu-ray player up to the aging TV, but the only problem that really affected my stay was that there didn't seem to be any way to get the shower water above lukewarm - though since the apartment was generally well heated, even that wasn't too much of an issue. On the whole I'd heartily recommend the Old Queen's Head.

This was a lovely place to stay, the apartment had everything we needed and the area had many places to visit.. We would definitely return perhaps in warmer weather to visit more of Weardale .

A warm, clean, cosy apartment to use as a base for exploring Weardale.. Everything was as advertised, the owner met us in person and give us a warm welcome. The villagers were extremely friendly and the walks though not as challenging as the Lakes were equally as picturesque and not as busy. Would recommend this Dale if you haven't been before.

This is lovely flat in a great location and I would like to add my recommendations to those from earlier visitors.. It's a gem, it really is. The flat is small, cosy and well fitted out and well looked after. The kitchen is modern and has everything you need to cook from scratch (there are places in the village and locally to eat out too). Jackie and Derrick are great hosts; knowledgeable and friendly. The village of Wolsingham itself has friendly residents and useful shops, cafes etc. It's also well placed for getting around the wider area; Durham, Barnard Castle, Weardale. Thoroughly recommended.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at The Old Queens Head and I have to say what a lovely place to stay. The apartment is tastefully decorated and very well equipped with all you need. The king sized bed and furnishings are very comfortable and everywhere is spotlessly clean. Jackie provided a much appreciated welcome pack which was a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable and cosy apartment which is ideal for couples.. Thank you Jackie for your warm greeting on our arrival, your thoughtful welcome pack and all the attention that has been given to making the Old Queen’s Head such a lovely place to have a quiet, relaxing break. It has also been an excellent centre for exploring Weardale and the surrounding area, in particular Beamish Living Museum, Durham Cathedral, Hamsterley Forest, Barnard Castle and High Force, and the local circular walks in and around Wolsingham are wonderful and well documented in individual leaflets. Would love to return.

We arranged to collect key /meet owners at Old Queens Head they arrived very quickly as arranged.. They could not have been more help full, answering questions on local places to visit and eat at. Both my wife and myself thought the photos on web site did not reflect the high standards of this property. We enjoyed our time there visiting places like Beamish Museum and Casle Barnard. This property is an ideal base to view the surrounding area. Thank you Jacqueline and Derrick

A beautiful apartment that was an absolute joy to stay in.. Durham and Barnard Castle were both a short drive away, around 25 mins. Wolsingham was a beautiful and quiet market town that gave doorstep access to some amazing walks and places to eat. The flat provided all that was needed for cooking meals at home in a perfect for 2 kitchen/living room space that offers views of the surrounding hill. Without a doubt me and my partner would visit here again after having such a wonderful holiday. The owner Mrs. Jacqueline Dent was wonderful and ensured that our trip was perfect with knowledge of the area and beautiful design touches int he flat. 10/10 would go back again to explore more of this beautiful area with a truly wonderful place to stay.
