Lovely place, lovely village and people.. we were blessed with great weather too. And so nice to be able to walk on the roads there without worry about traffic.

The Old Pier House is warm roomy comforrable and spotlessly clean.. A great situation looking out over the estuary. The house itself is impressive and the light from the large window wall is fabous when the sun is going down. The kitchen has all you need, cooker washing machine, fridge and freezer, well stocked with lots of basics, salt pepper tea coffee etc I especially appreciated the curry powder and chilli when we made a curry. Mary met us on arrival, with yummy muffins, brown soda bread and Proseco! She was very helpful with local information and places to visit. The village of Carrigaholt itself is great, beautiful scenery, swimming, beach walks, friendly chatty locals and pubs with music and craic! Loop head penninsula is unspoilt, a hidden treasure of Ireland with sea stacks, the lighthouse, flora and fauna and country roads to explore. We will definetly be back. Thanks again to our host Mary and of couse we were blessed with the lovely Irish weather sunny windy and cool one day then hot windy and warm the next!
It was so relaxing and even though there was 7 adults didnt feel cramped.. Really home from home with books/games/dvds/CDs. Would recommend to anyone who needs to recharge their batteries as we did
What a fabulous house in a great village, everything was top notch from the minute Mary met us with a yummy caramel toffe cake (you should need a lock and key to hide it).. Keane's bar next door made us extremely welcome and The Long Dock bar and restaurant was great. Could not recommend this more.
Mary made us very welcome with homemade cake and soda bread.. Wine in the fridge a lovely surprise. The cottage is lovely with a view over the harbour. Everyone we met was very welcoming and the food in the Long Dock excellent. Sadly dolphin watch was discontinued that week so will have to go back. Lots of see and do so a perfect base.
House was excellent.. Tremendous location. Lovely warm welcome from Mary. Loop Head Peninsula is very beautiful. Carrigaholt is a lovely friendly village. The Long Dock Pup/Restaurant is a super place to vist
Old Pier House was a fantastic place to get away from it all.. The village of Carrigaholt is small, friendly and picturesque. The locals were lovely everywhere we went on the Loop Head Peninsula, they were genuinely happy to see us and our 2 kids got royal treatment wherever we went.
Old Pier House itself is just beautiful. Perfect for families, lots of space to spread out, all the facilities you need and all the comforts of home. We happened to stay during the amazing weather at the end of June and enjoyed every minute we spent in the house, patio doors open, warm breeze coming through, plenty of games to keep the kids entertained. We would definitely love to go back there, even if the sun hadn’t shone for us, the house alone is wonderful. A perfect holiday destination.
The house and location were both fabulous.. The local area is stunning and we had a fantastic time at the Old Pier House.
Happy to recommend this as a location for a great family holiday.
Had the pleasure to stay at the Old Pier House in September . The house has been built and designed superbly and within minutes of arriving it felt like home . Even with 7 of us in the house it never felt cramped due to the space the house had to offer . ( especially the kitchen / dinning area ) .
Location wise its excellent with the 3 local pubs and the Long Dock restaurant no further than 2 minutes walk away . All in all it was a fantastic week away and I have already booked for next year and look forward to staying in the Old Pier again .
We were very pleased with the cottage we had 3nights in June and it was a pleasure to stay there . There was plenty of things to do indoors games and dvd cd and a lovely kitchen area we would certainly recommend this place
