Old Byre Cottage is a semi-detached cottage on a working farm in Newbiggin-on-Lune. The cottage has two ground floor bedrooms; a king-size double which can be a twin on request, and a room with bunks. The bathroom is also on the ground floor, while upstairs is an open plan living area leading to a raised patio. As well as the patio guests have use of the shared grounds including a play area, and there is off road parking. Old Byre Cottage is an ideal base for walking, sightseeing, playing 'farmer' or simply relaxing.

Accomodation Details
Two ground floor bedrooms: 1 x king-size double (zip/link, can be twin on request), 1 x adult bunks. Ground floor bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. First floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with door to raised terrace.

Area
Newbiggin-on-Lune is a small village below the Howgill Fells, set between the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales, making it an ideal base for exploring both. There is trout fishing in the river Lune nearby, good walking up the fells and easy access to attractions such as the Settle to Carlisle Railway.

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Cozy cottage with friendly hosts.. Tranquil area with Kirkby Stephen just up the road for shopping. lots of lovely walks - for all grades of walkers!. Cottage was super-clean, and ideal for a chilled out weekend

We had a short break over Christmas, so expect whatever the weather happens to bring you? The Cottage is a beautiful up-side-down layout on a working farm and Mike and Dianne are the perfect hosts. For a tranquil relaxing stay to recharge the batteries this is the place. Not far from the Lake District and all within a short journey from here. We went to Ambleside, Keswick and Kendal in the Lakes and visited a friend near Bradford whilst we stayed here and none of it felt too far. We plan to revisit in the drier weather to explore the Yorkshire Moors more in the future. Ta muchly.

We want to go above and beyond to recommend these people so highly.. They made us feel at home - showed the children round the animals, allowed them to feed baby sheep etc which they loved. The cottage was in a lovely location and so nice, clean etc with everything you could need for your stay. I also had a problem with my car on the last day and the owner (Diane) went out of her own way completely to help me - a genuine life saver to say the least! All in, we cannot recommend these people highly enough and have already been in touch about returning in the summer - one of the best holidays away in this country we have had!

Lovely cottage; high chair put in even though we had not even requested it showing thoughtfulness and care. While the owners are always available to help they don't intrude at all. We and the children loved the tour of the farm including bottle feeding the lamb. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable stay in a beautiful area.

The farm is magnificently situated on top of the fells where it feels you are on top of the world.. Wonderful weather added extra pleasure to an unforgettable break. We are already missing the lovely pigs. Our only regret is that we were unable to take up Mike's offer of an extra night.

I stayed at Old Byre Cottage with my husband, two small children, and our dog. The accommodations are clean and nicely decorated. The location is beautiful with the hills surrounding and the farm animals all around. My boys loved watching the farm every day, the upside down cottage, the bunk beds, and seeing new things. It is a bit of a drive to the lakes, probably 45 min each way depending on what side you are going on, but not too strenuous. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some relaxing peace and quiet.

Warm cosy cottage which was clean and welcoming.. Children loved having the living room and kitchen upstairs so they could get better views across the farm during the day. A lovely stay had over the new year.

It was just exactly what me and my partner (and 2 small breed dogs) needed. Perfectly situated for any number of good walks and the Cottage felt very homely for us. It was our first holiday together and I can imagine we will come back over the years to reminisce a great great weekend.

The cottage is in a simply stunning location on a working farm with easy access to both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The cottage was scrupulously clean and the owner popped round about 20 minutes after I arrived to see if I needed anything. My 20 month old son was entertained for hours by the farm animals and had a lovely time being shown around the farm by the farmer.
