Great location, perfect cosy cottage for two people and their dog..

Nice well equipped cottage in good location.. Substantial literature on what to do including some lovely dog walks. Pretty garden but it is detached from the cottage across an alleyway for cars so dogs must be on leads. To get to the parking space is down a tight narrow alleyway with little room to manoeuvre so you might struggle if you have a big car.

It was a perfect weekend hideaway .. The cottage was lovely and clean with lots of extra touches from the owners , including a packet of dog treats . The Horse and Farrier pub was only a short stroll down the lane with good food and friendly , welcoming staff . Sykes Cottages kept in regular touch right from the inital booking to the time we started our holiday. Thankyou . I would highly recommend it .

The cottage was perfect for two people and the back garden would be lovely when the weather warms up.. It was just a shame it wasn't enclosed so our dog had to be kept on his lead.

Lovely cozy cottage, really nice to have a festive feel for Christmas and clear effort made to that end.. Candles too :) And a Christmas card. Excellent location and beautiful walks right from the back of the cottage up a Ghyll to Blencathra with numerous path choices all around, including along the river.

The Cottage was very small , all facilities as listed were available but I seemed to be forever bumping my head and I am only 5'6" tall.. The bed and settee were not particularly comfortable.

Booked for my 40th birthday, this 17th century cottage was snug, welcoming, well-equipped and so clean and tidy it was a delight to stay in. With a packet of dog treats also waiting for Cassie, they kept her happy all week on our walks! Keswick is only 4 miles away for all amenities, but the Horse and Farrier in Threlkeld is so close for food and drink you might never leave the village. Walks are available for all levels from the front door and mounrain biking too on Lonscale Fell. We moved away from Cumbria three years ago...now we're not so sure why!

The visitors book was left on the table when we arrived and there are plenty of other books, maps & leaflets which came in very handy.. Having an off road parking space was really good and meant we didn't have to worry about where we would park when we arrived home each day. The cottage was very warm - only thing the sofa wasn't very comfortable.

The Cottage was amazing to come back to at the end of each day, snug, warm and welcoming, I could live in it quite happily, eschewing all unnecessary possessions in exchange for the views..

A beautiful cosy cottage in a beautiful quiet village with good amenities just off the A66 bypass.. The cottage felt extremely homely, as if we were being welcomed into a family home for a few days. The village itself was very welcome with a very friendly pub and perhaps the best tearoom / coffee shop we found in the village hall. We spent the vast majority of the holiday walking in spectacular scenery and enjoying the towns and villages which were all very dog enthusiastic. We can't wait to visit both the cottage and the area again.

Ideal for a couple and a dog or small child, two pubs in the village and a golf course across the road, Keswick reachable in 5 mins by car and 90 mins via country walk.. Excellent all round venue and location.

Brilliant short break to celebrate my birthday. Hubby, Sandie the cocker spaniel & I all loved Nightingale Cottage. Really cosy & immaculately clean. The wood burner was a real treat when it was hailing & snowing outside on an evening! Outside space is great & we hope to return in warmer weather to enjoy the lovely garden & gorgeous views. Sandie loved having her own little spot for her food & water. She was super happy to find treats waiting for her when she arrived...thank you! Dog friendly Horse & Farrier only a few minutes walk away was excellent for food or just for a drink.

Nightingale Cottage is in the village of Threlkeld which is less than a 10 minute drive to Keswick. The cottage is in an excellent location for plenty of high or low level walking. The cottage is very dog friendly, with treats left for our dog on arrival. The cottage has everything to make our stay very comfortable, the log burner was lovely with plenty of wood available. The kitchen had all the mod cons including a dishwasher which is a treat when on holiday! Having WiFi that worked was excellent. The whole cottage is clean and fresh, and well loved. Whilst we were there the temperatures drop below zero, but the cottage was very warm and snug. A great retreat after a long day on the hills.

Fabulous cottage, very clean and comfortable with fabulous views of Blencathra. This is the second year we have stayed in this cottage and will definitely return. The photo shows the view from the back garden, highly recommended!

We first came here for our mini moon and enjoyed it so much we came back this year too! It's very well appointed and everything seems to have been catered for. It's very clean and has amazing views of Blencathra. It's very easy to get to Keswick by foot, bus or car and you are well situated to travel around the rest of the lakes within 30 minutes. Very very comfortable and very considerate owners, we had gifts and cards for our wedding and second visit which shows a real personal touch, also very dog friendly (although you can't tell any have been in due to high standards of cleaning) Highly recommended
