The village itself is comprised of a cluster of stone built cottages and houses set around a traditional green. The village is also home to the famous 'Buck Inn' - a Georgian coaching pub that retains much of its old charm.

Very cosy cottage with log burners.. Logs supplied by the owner. Dishwasher and washing machine what more could you ask for. It was home from home and a little bit more.

We loved our stay at Moss End cottage.. It is set in a superb location, and the accommodation is excellent.
Mr Tobias, August 2020
Great location for walking and enjoying The Dales.. A comfortable cottage with good facilities for a family and WiFi.
Mrs Shannon, August 2020
Cottage lovely.. Minor details of need stronger light bulbs and one timer didnt work. Other than that it was very well equipped and good quality furnishings. Would recommend to experience a quieter part of the dales.
Stayed for a week and wished it had been two. Ideal setting for a stress free break. We've stayed in many cottages with wood burning stoves, but this is the first where the owners supplied the logs, kindling and coal. A very nice touch. Highly recommend the restaurant at the Wensleydale creamery in Hawes. Very cosy cottage and the huge double bed sorted by back out. First class.
Ms Pell, July 2020
Lovely little cottage but not in quite as quiet a spot as we thought.. A fair bit of traffic noise heading towards (and returning from) Hawes, (nearest shops) about 6 miles away, and where the Wensleydale Creamery is situated.(Well worth a visit or two to both though!)
The log fires were just wonderful and the kind owners provided all the fuel needed for our stay there. A different version of the usual welcome pack! What I do think needs to be addressed is the lack of a fridge-freezer. The tiny fridge with just an ice box is nowhere near large enough. Be warned if you're coming to stay for a week or more!

A lovely comfortable cottage in a peaceful setting..
Mr Clark, August 2019
A great place to stay for a week.. Walks right out of the door into the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Just remember you are a long way from a shop and so stock up before you get there.
Mr Dunn, July 2019
Whilst staying at the cottage we had a slight problem with television reception, we contacted the owners who were more than helpful.. in trying to resolve the problem.
The cottage was well presented and spotless, comfortable and fully equipped with everything that could be needed.
The one disadvantage was the parking - the off road space is only adequate for a vehicle the size of a Focus or smaller.
The location was perfect for walking from the cottage.. We didn't use the car once for this. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. Lots of nice things in it too. Very peaceful and quiet. It felt like home. There are lots of places to visit for all ages, although we didn't do this because the weather was so nice we walked every day. Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful cottage in the heart if the Dales, if you're looking for a nice relaxing break with amazing views then this is the place for you..
We really couldn't fault the cottage - it delivered everything the photos conveyed and more - lovely touches throughout.. We made a stew one night and I didn't have to buy bay leaves or thyme! The logburners were a highlight as we were there when the weather had just turned and it was lovely to come back after a days walking and light them. A really helpful and clear instruction booklet for the cottage. It's not often you rent a cottage and it feels very homely from the start. Brilliant remote beautiful location in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales
We liked our two-week holiday in Moss End Cottage very much.. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Oughtershaw is a remote place in Deepdale. Far away from the villages, especially when the road is blocked(due to roadworks) in one direction (to Buckden) which lasted the whole 2nd week. We didn't mind that at all, because the scenic route to Hawes (7mles)was really beautiful to drive. When we look for a peaceful, quiet holiday in the Yorkshire Dales we hope to come back to Moss End Cottage.
We had a 24 day stay at Moss End Cottage and loved it.. The flat is spacious, spotlessly clean, very-well equipped, and perfectly located for exploring the Dales. The cottage is absolutely beautiful, thoughtfully restored, and the decor and furnishings were delightful.
Like so many cottages in this area, it is situated close to the road. But the thick walls keep things quiet and in the back of the house you can only hear the lovely stream flowing by. You will need to negotiate several miles of single-track roads so allow a little extra time for your travels.
There were countless hikes nearby, but don’t miss out on the Wensleydale Cheese factory and the well-organized and fascinating museum in Hawes, especially for a rainy day. Another recommendation is the woolen shop in Muker along with some great hikes starting from the village. We would highly recommend Moss End Cottage for a visit!
Very exciting and adventurous
Hard to say what we most enjoyed.. Firstly the cottage was more than we could have hoped for and ideally situated for us to visit all the places we had planned. Had a lovely holiday in spite of the weather! Best wishes Peter.
The cottage was a real home from home.. The owners had thought of everything, the facilities were absolutely excellent. We loved the stream at the bottom of the garden and it was perfectly suited for walking the Dales Way.
This was our second visit to Moss End Cottage and as before the cottage is excellent, if you enjoy a holiday in peaceful beautiful surroundings then this is the place to stay..
Moss End Cottage was one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in.. It had everything you need, was exceptionally clean and in a beautiful, central but peaceful location in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Wonderful walking from the doorstep and in Wharfedale, starting from Buckden, Kettlewell and Hubberholme. Everything you need in nearby Hawes, as well as the Wensleydade Creamery and Dales Countryside Museum. Historic castles, fabulous waterfalls and traditional towns all within an hour's drive. Really appreciated the attention to detail in the house, especially the ample supply of wood for the cosy wood burners. A fantastic holiday.
For anyone who wants peace and just to get away for a while this is the place to be..
My husband has difficulty seeing in low lighting, unfortunately the lightning .... My husband has difficulty seeing in low lighting, unfortunately the lightning could not be adjusted for his needs, otherwise we had a lovely holiday
This was a beautifully presented cottage in a very peaceful setting. It was very clean and well equipped with everything we required for a very pleasant week. It is set in an area with plenty of great walks.
Moss End Cottage lived up to and beyond its description, it was beautifully decorated with delightful homely touches that were appreciated. A lot of thought and love has gone into the creating of this cottage and it shows.
