Area
Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales, and the tranquil Forest of Bowland are all easily accessible from this quaint Cumbrian settlement. There is a butcher, a decent bar, and a Post Office/general shop in the settlement. Seven miles away is the picturesque old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and another twelve will take you to Kendal, the Lake District's gateway. The historic city of Lancaster and the popular beach towns of Morecambe and Blackpool are conveniently close. Only 4 miles away lies the renowned RSPB wildfowl refuge of Leighton Moss, and nearby Morecambe Bay is as well-known among birdwatchers. Silverdale and Arnside (both of which look out over the gorgeous Kent Estuary), Ingleton, Settle, and Clapham are a few other charming communities in the area. Nearby attractions include the famed topiary garden at Levens Hall and the magnificent garden of the historic Sizergh Castle. The neighbourhood is home to a wide variety of excellent eateries and bars. Walking, golfing, fishing, and horseback riding are all available in the area.
