A really lovely place to stay in. Spotlessly clean, with everything you need. Rooms were lovely (no door on ensuite though) and it was wonderful to have the decked balcony to sit out on or eat on. View over the tranquil lake was fabulous and we enjoyed feeding the fish (especially 'Harold', the light coloured one!) and birds daily. Well located for local pubs (loved the food at The Crown), garden centre (Haskins - delicious pizzas) and lovely walk to Tulleys Farm and Tea Room for a fabulous afternoon tea. Well placed to get to the coast, such as Brighton and Hastings, or places of interest inland. Linda, the host, was lovely and friendly. Was fascinating to read about the history of the place and the work the family had done to create it. Definitely recommend staying here!

We really enjoyed our week at Lake View.. It is very well placed for visiting Brighton and Eastbourne and for walking in the beautiful Ashdown Forest. The house is comfortable and well equipped and it was a pleasure to spend time there watching the wildlife round the lake.

A lovely setting and a well equipped and modern, clean and warm place to stay.. A great base to explore the countryside and coast and a nice place to return to at the end of the day.

We had an amazing holiday.. The accommodation was brilliant and incredibly clean with everything we could possibly need. The host was fantastic and we would recommend to everyone. An incredible setting which was so relaxing and peaceful and a great base for lots of lovely trips out. We cannot thank you enough for a brilliant family holiday.

We had a lovely stay at Miswells.. The property was comfortable and extremely clean, however the decor and furnishings are in need of an update. I also found the open plan bathroom set up a bit odd! The thing that made the property for us, was the balcony overlooking the small lake. It was very relaxing to sit there with a drink in hand and watch the world go by. We were even lucky enough to spot a kingfisher on a couple of occasions!

The details about the cottage should mention the steepness of the stairs leading to the front door.. This was an immaculate and well-equiped cottage (more of a flat really).

Happy New Year Sykes Holiday Cottages and thank you for facilitating the most amazing family Christmas at Miswells Cottage Lake View.. The mini Holiday at Christmas was truly amazing and we cannot stop thinking about our gorgeous Holiday Home. It was so peaceful and serene (our choice). I almost don't want to share it in case I find it is booked when I want to go there, but I would love to return to this beautiful 'family' home again in the not too distant future. Linda and Barry were superb Hosts and we enjoyed getting to know them over a glass of fizz on Christmas Eve. They were so kind and completely selfless considering that it was Christmas. Each evening they even took the trouble to light up the beautiful lake for us to enjoy the view - it was truly magical. Linda and Barry also decorated the cottage for Christmas, it was so welcoming. I took way to many bits and pieces not knowing the quality that I was going too find. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place and these wonderful people who made our Christmas really special. [The journey home was not great but this is not something that anyone could have done anything about. We sadly had to cut our holiday short by one day to visit our Bristol family and endured the worst traffic in the history of transport on Friday 27 December 2019. We got caught in the Gatwick and Heathrow and Christmas travelling on the M23 and M24 and am unsure whether there may have been an easier route home]

What a lovely big, airy flat, very clean and in a lovely location.. Owner very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay, thank you. Just a couple of points to raise but didn’t affect our stay. Not too sure it is a particularly child friendly place to say, going up and down the stairs (no stair gate) in the night if the kids needed me (one needs a wee about 3am most nights!) was tough! Both rooms are open to their respective bathrooms so toiletries / chemicals would have to be kept on a high shelf elsewhere if your child was likely to get up and play in the night. (Also not great if you like privacy when on the loo, or if you’re staying with friends, rather than family). If it was warm outside you would not be able to have the patio doors open on to the terrace as the surround is easily climbed, and is over the lake. A few light bulbs were not working (vanity mirror and bed side light) but only a slight inconvenience really. Having stayed whilst it was wet outside, the car parking area was very muddy, meaning we’d have to go out in one pair of shoes (wellies) and change once out. Again, just an inconvenience. Thank you very much for a lovely stay, would highly recommend.

Miswells Cottage made for an excellent holiday experience.. The house is very cosy, beautifully furnished, neat and tidy and very well stocked with everything you might need or want. The views across the lake are a wonderful bonus. The peace and quiet of the vicinity were exactly what we were looking for on our family holiday. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed! Thank you to Linda and team.

Miswells Cottages is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.. Everything plus more is available in this spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation. The view, especially from the lounge room and deck is so tranquil and picturesque. Linda and Barry are the perfect hosts who have thought of everything to make your stay the best. Coming from Australia it was great for us to experience the English village hospitality as we walked around the public walkways and enjoyed meals at the two nearby pubs. We hope to be able to return to Miswells Cottages for a longer stay on our next visit to the UK.

We had a great week at Miswells cottage- Lake view.. The cottage is lovely and we found everything we needed. The view over the lake and the woodlands is so relaxing! Early in the morning we could see squirrels and pheasants from the cottage. And the children enjoyed feeding the fishes!! The location is great too: many National Trust Houses and gardens near by and easy access to Brighton too.

The accommodation was first class, everything you could possibly need was provided .. All the little extras like board games ,books and dvds made it a great place to relax and unwind with our family . We loved feeding the fish each morning and the view onto the lake was beautiful. We will go back again .

The accommodation was very good and well equipped.. My husband really enjoyed sitting outside on the deck of a morning watching the Heron and the fish. It is well situated for visiting places of interest - there are many gardens and stately homes near by with Brighton a very short distance away. I would not recommend this cottage to anyone with problems with steep outside stairs, I've had 2 knee replacements and have arthritis - the rise of the steps is higher than usual. We had to go and ask someone how the towel rail switched on and twice we had no water in the morning - again my Husband had to go and talk to someone. We did not get a welcome pack as per advertised other than a packet of biscuits that ran out at the end of May! Also a pink of milk which went off after 2 days! The garage door makes more than a little noise - it is very noisy in the downstairs bedroom!

We chose Miswells Cottage as the ideal spot for a weeks cycling in the Ashdown Forest area.. On arrival we were thrilled to find such a well equipped beautiful cottage. It was lovely to come home after a days cycling and relax, with a glass of wine, on the veranda overlooking the lake. We watched the Canada Geese goslings grow bigger each day. There were 5 when we arrived and to our amazement 5 when we left. The parents were very conscientious. A truly lovely place which made our holiday even more enjoyable. Thank you to the family.

We stayed at lake view with our 2 young children and had a fantastic time. We cannot fault the facilities at lake view it has everything you need including a stunning view over the lake which is lovely to wake up to every morning. Linda and Barry are incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They were more than happy to help with any queries we had. A truly fantastic place to stay in a lovely village.

The instructions left by Linda to get to the place was clear. The house was spacious and clean and very beautiful. We had some trouble with the kitchen and Linda and her husband were really quick to resolve it. We absolutely love this place. My family and I hope to come back there soon.
