Looked lovely at first glance then flaws started to appear. As a manager of a cleaning company I expected high standards. Kitchen wasnt cleaned very well. Dirty drawers and cupboards. A layer of grease and cobwebs above the cooker. Skirting boards, staircase and lamps etc upstairs not even dusted. Shower and mirror glass not polished. There is wifi there but it was hardly worth connecting to it as it was so slow or some nights it didnt want to connect at all. No hoover which was a bundle of laughs with 4 kids between the ages of 2 and 10years old. Never have I been in a holiday accommodation which doesn't have a hoover! Cooker was greasy and the oven wasnt cleaned either. I spent the 1st day of my holiday cleaning the kitchen equipment so we could make meals. Pots etc were dirty. The glasses were smeared. The unit the plates and glasses stood on was dusty as hell. Place mats needed cleaned. Needless to say we will not be back at this holiday accommodation in the future. It really needs some TLC and the cleaner needs to clean properly!

Broken floor tiles in kitchen and bathroom, loose bath tap which dripped, toilet seats in dire need of change internet extremely poor, TV reception none existant, carpets extreemly dirty Basically this property should not be let out until these things are put right.. The basic hygiene is not upto standard for your own house never mind a holiday let.

House in great location.. Everything you needed for a great holiday.....beds clean, fluffy towels, plenty crockery. Plenty hot water and underground heating. However Wifi was slow, poor channel selection on TV and generally the house needed freshened up.

No channels on television despite trying to retune it.. No Hoover, which was a challenge with a 14 month old baby. Very rickety stair bannisters. Log burner gives out no heat and some of the small heaters were broken which was a problem with the cold weather and the dishwasher was blocked. Although this didn't spoil our holiday we think these problems need to be addressed.

THERE ARE A FEW MINOR PROBLEMS AND WE LEFT A NOTE STATING SAME.. NOTHING THAT DETRACTED FROM THE PROPERTY, JUST SMALL HASSLES. ENOUGH WHISKY TOURS TO KEEP YOU BUSY FOR WEEKS BEWARE SALMON FISHING - EXPENSIVE AND PERMITS HARD TO GET. NO PERMITS FOR BROWN TROUT FISHING.

My wife and I like this cottage.. The open plan layout suits us fine. It was lovely and warm and the internet connected easy. Nice view from the rear garden and good walking up in the nearby forest. I even saw some dear early one morning while out running.

Lovely holiday, the cottage could do with a little tlc and a good clean as it had a few rough edges.. But a lovely place with great potential.

First of all lets start with the positives, the cottage is excellent if you want to be close to the whisky trail an you like open planned cottages, good number of towels are made available.. The bad, on arrival we had no hot water or heating until 7pm the next day. When it was fixed the underfloor heating would come on even with thermostats set to 10C and the hot water would not be consistent, you could turn the tap on and hot water come out, the next time the tap is turned it would be cold. With no hot water tank you need a good functioning boiler. The sticker across the boiler from an OFTEC plumber warning that the boiler has not been installed correctly and needs urgent attention was worrying. The property has 4 bedrooms, each bedroom had 2 bedside lamps. Only 2 light bulbs were working in 8 lamps. 4 lamps had the bulbs completely missing. The mattress in the second bedroom was extremely poor and the springs dug into my back. I moved two single mattresses from one of the other bedrooms to replace this mattress as it was far to uncomfortable to sleep on, one of these had a large urine stain on it which isn't pleasant. The hand rail on the stairs has a very large wobble to it which is not good. The cottage is definitely lacking some major TLC, kitchen pans and baking tins were thick with grease, the dishwasher opens its door by itself during a cycle. We had an entire week booked with this cottage and left on the Wednesday as it was more stressful being on holiday. It also shows that Sykes have very little power when things like this go bad, the only compensation I have been given is £50.

Warm and comfortable and ideal for 6 adults.. A great location for seeing the local area and the coast. Would recommend it.

A nice spacious cottage, when we arrived it was a nice touch to see a pint of milk and shortbread biscuits waiting for us.. We did have issues with how the heating worked. Sometimes it felt warm sometimes it felt cool. Couldn't fathom how the underfloor heating worked. Plenty of towels and comfy beds. This was our second visit to Milton cottage and find it is a very nice place to stay. One suggestion would be to uprade the cooking pots and pans.

Good first impressions, but that soon disappeared.. Dirty inside badly fitting cupboards and drawers, looked like gravy inside one drawer. Plates dirty and stuck together, oven and microwave dirty with baked on carbon. Built in fridge had “water” in the bottom, and smelled bad. Other fridge/freezer needs defrosting. Kitchen tap needs reattached to sink. Wood burner looks good, or would if we could use it! The door has no catch, so can’t even nearly close it. No teapot or frying pan. Place mats and coasters dirty. There is a bad mould buildup in two the showers. Floors in the two upstairs bedrooms creak very badly. This cottage is suffering very badly from a lot of TLC. We holiday regularly in cottages in Scotland, but this experience has been the worst we have had in the years we have done this. I telephoned the key holder with my concerns, but was told there was not enough time between guests to fully check everything, and the previous guests have obviously not cleaned after themselves. Not really happy with this though, as it is the middle of Winter, hardly rushed off their feet with bookings. All in all, we shall not be back here, and it was spoiled our previous good experiences of cottage holidaying, which is a great shame!

The house looked very impressive when we arrived, but we soon realised that the kitchen furniture was in need of repair, it slept 8 but there was not enough cooking pots to prepare meals etc,we rented the property for the new year celebrations, our party were 6 mature adults and 2 grandchildren,it was advertised that there was a shop and pub in the area but the shop was a small kiosk and the pub only opened when the owner felt like it,we were booked for 5 nights but came home after 4 as we could not bear another boring day..

We had a splendid time at the Milton Cottage.. There were all the necessary amenities to make our stay a pleasant one. The house itself was big and still felt cosy. A place that we can definitely recommend!

The house was very cosy and the Kitchen facilities were great.. The only issue was the lack of pressure in 2 of the showers which the owners could easily rectify with better pumps. The bedrooms were modern and beautifully furnished and decorated.

We thought the cottage was excellent and it far exceeded our expectations. It was spotlessly clean and warm and inviting on arrival. The cottage was very spacious, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a fantastic stay. My husband and I are already recommending it to our family and friends, and will use the cottage again if we holiday in Speyside in the future.

Centrally located for all areas of the river Spey. The cottage was well equipped and excellent for friends as it sleeps 8. The property has plenty of hot water and benefits from two en-suite bedrooms and a fully fitted ground floor bathroom. It was a great to be given access to the garage for secure storage of golf clubs and trailer. Thanks

Overall a wonderful accommodation that we would be happy to recommend. Terrific for a family or group with space to spread out. Layout of house meant some could go to bed early while others stayed up without disturbing anyone. Likewise, early risers could use the kitchen and lounge while everyone else slumbered on. Absolutely in the middle of the Malt Whisky Trail so we could plan our week to do one or two distilleries a day with ease and see some of the local non-whisky related sights.
