Nice cottage . The best thing was the secure courtyard, although it needs a fence to stop small dogs falling into the quite fast running brook to be swept away. This would be a dangerous torrent in wet months. Very disappointed that multi rental owner felt the need to jump on the scab bandwagon of nearly doubling 2022 rates because of COVID and captured audiences. Pity our pensions don’t double as well, but they don’t so we won’t be back as we can no longer afford it. We will remember though when the borders open and uk prices drop. Bed springs creak & squeak. No toilet brush ?. Turning TV on difficult due to obstinate remote. All household disturbed at night as doors cannot be opened quietly.

This was one of the most comfortable cottages we have stayed in Castleton and, though situated in a busy part of the village, once you are inside it is peaceful and relaxing. The decor is very tasteful, quirky in a nice way. The added touches we got for our Christmas stay made it really special. The private yard would be lovely to sit out in during the warmer months. IN the winter it added a sense of security as it made the entrance to the cottage very private. The owner is very accommodating and was in touch re the final details before our stay. So overall, comfortable, very dog friendly, great location, and a lovely welcome.

Lovely cottage in a great location, close to a number of pubs, cafes and shops.. Well equipped with a nice welcome gift of Prosecco and Milk on arrival. Small shared parking area and passes provided not needed by us as we came on the train, but handy for those with cars. Good, safe, enclosed garden, includes a dog bath complete with shampoo which we found useful as our 2 dogs like to roll in sheep poo! Only downside for us was the bed. I have osteoarthritis in my lower spine and need a firm bed, unfortunately this one is quite soft and after a week I have returned home with a lot of backache/agony. This is clearly a personal thing and others may prefer the softer bed. Visitor Centre just across the road staff there very helpful. Lots of good walks from Castleton suitable for all abilities.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at mill leat in Castleton.. The cottage was lovely and cosy with everything we needed. Lovely comfy beds and spotless. So very kind leaving us with milk and prosecco. It is close to all the amenities. We had lovely walks and nice meals at the local pubs. We loved it so much we have booked to go again in November. Thanks again

The location of this cottage is superb, on the doorstep to all of Castleton's amenities, wonderful walks and great pubs and cafes...a carpark pass is also included which saved the hassle of remembering to re-ticket the car.!!..The cottage itself was spotless, stylishly decorated, cosy and warm with a log fire (logs included) to cosy up to, it felt like you were in your own log cabin, there was also a selection of board games and wifi. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need, washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer. It even included a bottle of Prosecco and milk compliments of the owner Justine who was on hand to answer any of our questions. The two bedrooms upstairs, one double and a twin, again were beautifully presented. We slept like a dream as the beds were extremely comfortable with lovely bedding, and it was very peaceful and quiet. The bathroom was modern and included a powerful shower and fresh towels were on our beds for us. Our dog Hugo was also well catered for, a Belfast sink /bath with hosepipe was situated outside along with shampoo and even a dog towel!!... attention to detail is what makes this place a hidden gem, we would highly recommend it for a short or long break any time of the year. We'll be back!!

Small cottage in a tucked away position, just behind the cafe, furnished to a good standard with quality accessories.. Could have been a nice place to stay but, for us, it was very difficult. The cafe was undergoing refurbishment and a skip and van was in front of property this meant that people were squeezing past our window to get past which was really stressing our dog. There was noise from around 8am onwards from this. Then the cottage next to us also started doing some sort of work at a similar time - this was so loud that you would have thought it was upstairs in our cottage. Next, we had pest control at the door telling us the people next door had rats in their house and could we flush the toilet, run the taps etc, etc. Weather was also bad so couldn’t really get out with our dog to get away from the cottage. I realise that these things are beyond the owners control and in other circumstances could have had a nice holiday but sadly we just couldn’t stand it any longer and packed up and went home. Feel like we have just wasted a lot of money! Very disappointed.
