Area
Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a childrens' play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.

Self-Catering Reviews

Disappointed there was no hand soap in the flat even in the bathroom.. There were no dishwasher tablets or a hand towel in the kitchen. As in other reviews, the toilet and bathroom sink hadn’t been cleaned properly. The kettle badly needs descaling. On a positive note,we were grateful to get a phone call saying the flat was ready before 4pm.

Overall the flat was lovely only two things the bathroom room could do with a better clean, also the parking is not very good it's a bit tight if car park is full.. Other than that it's a perfect location 2 minute walk to the beach and restaurants just round the corner.

The only reason that Midships was not able to exceed our expectaions was that we had stayed ther before and knew what to expect! The flat is comfortable with all the facilities that holidaymakers would need and is close to the beach and high street for an early morining or evening walk - and the Sunday carvery at the Dolphin Hotel was an excellent Sunday lunch without the need to drive out of the village.

The flat generally was well-equipped and comfortable.. The location was the best aspect about it. The only criticisms we would have is that the bathroom could do with more of a deep clean and there wasn't enough toilet roll (only one roll left), handwash or sugar left for the week so we ended up having to replenish which is great for the next visitors but could have been replenished prior to our arrival.
