We received a very warm, friendly reception.. The cottage was beautifully presented and idyllic. We had a restful and refreshing time. There were several well stocked stores and cafes within a 5 minute walk. Would highly recommend this cottage.

Nice cottage in a good location, although very tight for car (have to reverse out onto road).. Thought they were a bit mean with the "welcome pack"

The only misgiving that I had was that the access for a car meant that once having driven in to the cottage, one had to reverse back out again onto a sometimes busy road.. I was thankful that I didn't have a bigger car. Otherwise we had a great time.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and cosy and ideally placed in the centre of Pooley Bridge, a stone's throw from amenities and pubs serving good food.. There were many delightful walks from the front door and some only a few minutes drive away. Altogether an excellent place to stay.

It's hard to put into words how we feel about this cottage and our time at Pooley Bridge.. There is a character and charm about the place which we believe is positively beneficial to one's health. The cottage was perfect in every way, warm, secure and inviting. The owners are wonderful people, close enough should you require anything at all but at the same time they respect your privacy and allow you to enjoy the holiday. I would recommend Pooley Bridge and in particular Mews Cottage to all, especially if you're wanting some restful and therapeutic time away. Sincerest thanks.

We've been coming to the lake district several times a year for over 20 years and how we've missed this hidden gem is a mystery.. Great location, beautifully furnished and well presented Lakeland cottage, peaceful yet in the heart of the village. Hopefully we'll be coming back soon. Not only is this a great cottage to relax in it's location is central for some amazing walks around Ullswater and District it also makes for a good base to tour the north western area of the Lakes taking in Windermere, Coniston and Thirlmere and take in some of the lakes nicest towns such as Keswick, Ulverston and Cockermouth. Whatever you want from a Lakeland holiday you'll find in abundance from this delightful cottage home from home.

Mews cottage is in a perfect location with easy access to different spots in the Lake District.. The owners who lived close by were very welcoming, helpful with very smooth check in and check out process. Apart from being in a perfect location the cottage was cosy with a lovely garden and all the required amenities. The cottage may require some upgrade with regard to few appliances like the oven, heating in the ground floor which we found to be not working. We enjoyed our stay very much in the cottage and highly recommend it for anyone visiting Lake District for a short break.
Ms Upadhye, June 2018
June 2018
Lovely setting, very clean and comfortable.. Owner very friendly, a pint of milk was waiting for us when we got there. Close to amenities, shops and pubs. Could do with a shower.
Mrs Oliver, June 2018
May 2018
The Lake District is super busy during holiday times, so be aware that parking your car is not easy.. ( Not a problem at Mews cottage which is excellently located in a very quiet cul-de-sac) Pooley Bridge is a small but busy place with plenty to do and several good watering holes. Next door to the Mews you can buy excellent ice cream.
Mr Turner, May 2018
March 2018
Lovely cottage - very quiet location and yet still handy for the village facilities.. The owners are very welcoming and always on hand if needed without intruding. A very comfortable base in a lovely village.

Perfectly located for walkers and hikers. Several pubs and restaurants all a short walk away. Cottage is set back from the road overlooking a tranquil field filled with grazing sheep. A must do is the boat ride up to Glenridding with a stop in for lunch at the Inn on the Lake. Cottage is well stocked. Only negatives were no laundry facility and lack of a shower. Cottage could use a bit of updating, and no wifi is available unless you go across the road to the pub. Only reason we would not return is that the Lake District was not really to our liking, but others may find it perfect.

Have just come back from a wonderful week here with my 20 year old son, walking the fells. Mews Cottage was cosy and warm, just perfect for returning at dusk, drying out, eating and relaxing. Brilliant location: Post Office that's also a food shop, newsagent etc only a few yards away, 3 pubs, and a tea shop, the lake steamer boat right there. Easy to get to by Virgin Trains to Penrith (very cheap in advance) and Stagecoach bus to the door, even on Sundays in winter. Loads of walks on your doorstep and even a cultural centre (Rheged) nearby that's great for shopping and coffee, as well as films, exhibitions and kids play. At the end of our stay our wonderful hosts even gave us a lift to the station as they feared that the weather might have stopped the buses.
