Mr Zagar, August 2020
The mermaid cottage is such an exceptional place to stay.. The cottage itself is quirky and very mermaid orientated, but actually very spacious and clean inside. It had everything we needed to cook a nice breakfast or brunch. The bedrooms were very good sizes and one of them had a gorgeous view of St. Michael's Mount. The shower was very warm and powerful too.
The location of the cottage was perfect for us who brought a dog. Looking out towards the sea, we were only a few yards away from a lovely walk onto the front leading to Penzance which was beautiful at night. However, with plenty to go at in the quaint village of Newlyn, we didn't have to walk to Penzance. We had lovely cafes (Duke street, amazing breakfasts!), restaurants (the Bridge, incredible authentic italian food) and plenty of great pubs to wet the whistle (the swordfish Inn and the red lion). All of these were dog friendly so we could take our little pup! I can't forget the quirky Meadery restaurant that we booked into first night either, who were extremely accommodating to us, or the lush vines of the Polgoon Vineyard where we tried possibly too much of their amazing award winning wines.
We went away with our best friends and our dog for a week away and to see family and I know we all had such an incredible time. We went for a week and did so much, but there were still bits that we missed. There so many things to do round Mermaid cottage and Newlyn for all ages, so we definitely will be going back soon :)
