The property is situated at the end of a country lane so provides a nice safe area for young children and dogs.. The cottage itself is traditional farm cottage that has been sensitively renovated to a high standard providing an authentic experience and a good level of comfort. Within walking distance of superb Narin strand, shop and restaurants, and a short drive to larger centres of Ardara and Glenties. Would definitely book Mary Kate’s cottage again.

We had a lovely break in Mary Kate's cottage.. The highlight for the kids was the horses that they could see every day. Host was helpful and down to earth. The cottage itself is quaint with everything that is needed. There is no wifi but this was what we wanted. The beach in Narin is very safe and great for children. It is a five minute drive from the cottage.

The location was perfect, lovely view of mountains, and lovely farm. Cahir, a gorgeous little town, which is untouched by tourism is only a few minutes drive away, with a choice of supermarkets, restaurants, bars and take-aways. The Cottage has three double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one with bath) a well equipped kitchen/diner/lounge, and a comfortable lounge with great views. The cottage was finished to a five star standard, everything you may need is available, however if there is something you need the owners Paul and Evelyn are very helpful. There is a washer and dryer in a separate utility room if needed. We were originally going to stay for one week, but we loved it so much we had one night staying in Kerry, and then came back to John's Dairy (the sister cottage) for the rest of our two week holiday. We all fell in love with Boolakennedy and the surrounding area. The cottages are so well located that you can visit south coast and almost everywhere in Southern Ireland on a day out. We will definitely be back.

Just home from spending a few days here with family and what can I say. This cottage is absolutely perfect for the relaxed getaway with everything you need minutes away. Stunning location with the most beautiful beach minutes away, charmingly quaint Irish cottage with just enough modernicity to give you a stress free holiday from the fully equipped kitchen to the stunning stone walls right up to the comfiest bed I've slept in in a holiday rental. Absolutely just what I needed to get away from the strains of high stress work life! Can't wait to book it for myself for next summer.

This is a stunning cottage at the end of a lane.. It is quiet and peaceful and a perfect place to stay. When we arrived we found the fire had been laid and there was wood, peat, starting sticks and firelighters for a couple of days. The cottage was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Mary Kate's cottage was originally a farmhouse and the stone farm buildings are still there (one houses the washing machine and tumble dryer). It is not far from Narin and the beach there is stunning - it has a blue flag award. Portnoo is just along from Narin and has a great shop. It is a great place to stay while exploring Donegal. We spent an amazing two weeks here and would love to return.

We stayed in Mary Kate's cottage for a week in August 2017. The cottage was very comfortable for 4 adults, well equipped and charming. There were some lovely ponies in a field just next door, which we enjoyed feeding. The nearby beach at Port Noo was beautiful. There is an excellent golf course in Port Noo as well, which serves lovely food in the club house, for lunch or dinner. The house could benefit from some WiFi, and you need to use the car to get to most places - e.g. the shop was a 40 minute walk away, and to get to the beach was a mile partly walking down a fast road. Donegal is beautiful!

Wonderful holiday spent at Mary Kate's Cottage with my husband and two sons (3&4yo) PROs: immaculate, generally very well equipped with plenty of spare blankets, good sized bedrooms with plenty of storage, quiet and safe location for our boys to play outdoors, plenty of space in the laundry outhouse for storing bikes, two sizes of teapot BOTH of which poured perfectly(!), nearby quiet beach is a gem with a superb little beachside coffee hut (although you'd be doing well to walk it in the suggested ten minutes, especially the uphill walk back!) Things that would have made it EVEN better (please note these are such teeny tiny things and did not at all lessen our experience!): coat hooks by the back door, a few more store cupboard staples like olive oil etc, some laundry detergent (even with an honesty box to pay into), a bigger settee for cozying up on for movie nights on wet Donegal nights, a better vacuum cleaner, more head space at the base of stairs (an absolute impossible task!) to save my 6ft2 husband's poor bashed head! But again, these such are totally minute details and def didn't detract from our holiday!

We loved how spotlessly clean this beautiful house was. The rooms were beautiful and very tastefully decorated just like I would love for my own house. The dishwasher was a great asset because who wants to do dishes on holiday? Loved the shower and particularly loved being able to bring our two dogs, they were able to go outside and as we were the last house in the lane there were no cars to worry about. Also felt very safe in the house. The owners live nearby and were so lovely and helpful, looking forward to going back.

We stayed at this beautiful Irish house 1st week in July 2013. This house has been restored to retain the typical Irish house, it has a wonderful granite fire surround with a multi fuel burning fire, good sized bedrooms and every kitchen facility you would need on a self catering holiday. I would totatally recommend staying at this house to see for yourself the interior, and advantage of staying here. The owners live close to the house and are very helpful with directions and local amenitites and local surroundings.

Staying at Mary Kate's cottage was absolute bliss.. I really want it to be mine but if it was I wouldn't sell it either. I will dream about it until we return, hopefully next year. The owner and his family were an absolute pleasure to deal with, the bedroom I stayed in is the bedroom of my dreams and I will pretend I am in it when I fall asleep. In the peace and quietness of the beautiful green Donegal countryside with one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen just a half hour walk and a friendly pub just half an hour the other way down the road too. Absolutely perfect and I wish I was there now.

The house is at the end of a grassy lane surrounded by farmland which seems to be exclusively populated by inquisitive horses. Not having holidayed in this part of Donegal before we were really taken aback by the natural amenities on offer. The beaches are magnificent, Tramore strand and the coves around Rosbeg were great for the kids. There is a Pub that serves food nearby and few more and some shops in Portnoo/Naran. Ardara is only 10 mins away. Our impression was that the house has been recenly refurbished. In fact the appliances were new. There is a well equipped kitchen and reasonably large sitting come dining room. Each bedroom has double beds and storage. The accommodation is of a high standard. There is an out house with a washing machine and dryer. The owners live nearby and helped us out with directions over the phone and were at the house to run through things when we arrived. They kept in contact to make sure all was going well. All in all, if your looking for a well equiped a rural retreat in a period building, you can't go wrong here.
