We were greeted by the landlord, Patrick, on our arrival and immediately felt at home. There were scones and coffee waiting for us. As there were only two of us, we didn't use the upper floor of this rental. The bedroom on the main floor had a comfortable bed, two end tables a small schrank for our clothes, and a nice bathroom. Since we wanted to unpack, we had to use a chest of drawers in the living room for some of our clothes, as they didn't all fit in the schrank. The living room has a leather couch and a rattan loveseat where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the bay.
The dining area has two leather recliners and a tv, plus a table for 4. The kitchen is modern and basically furnished. While there is a toaster and coffee maker and kettle, there is no blender or mixer, and the number of dishes for serving is very limited. Also, the utensils for cooking are sparse and the pots and frying pan are of low quality, with teflon lining which has seen better days. As one who cooks, I was hampered by the lack of kitchen tools. (ie: There was no plastic spatula for the teflon frying pan and I couldn't use the metal one for fear of further scratching the pan).
Since this cottage is not in a city, internet service appears to be a problem. That was a disappointment to us because though we moved in on Monday, we didn't have internet till Thursday late morning. So, because part of our reason for being here was to work, we needed access and had to go to the local town to find it.
A BIG plus for this cottage is that it has a very nice washer and dryer. Also, Patrick wasn't concerned about the temperature, saying he understands Americans like a warm house, but we turned the heat down as we prefer it cool, particularly for sleeping. There is a nice little washroom off the kitchen with a sink and toilet, and it is adjacent to the laundry area.
We enjoyed our stay here very much, and we found the landlords to be very helpful and friendly.
