The walk into town is about 30 minutes, but a lot of it is down the old railway track, which is very pleasant

Stayed here in mid-March when storm Gareth arrived. Jackie the Lakes cottages representative was very helpful in accommodating our change in arrival time due to the storm. My wife and I have stayed here in the summer during a heatwave when the apartment was nice and cool. This time when the outside temperature was 3C the apartment was nice and warm. It was easy to control the heating and hot water. There was also a convector heater in the main room. The apartment is very well equipped and well designed. Hooks on the back of the doors and suitcase stands would be very useful.

We all thought that the holiday cottage exceeded all our expectations, in the setting, the standard, the cleanliness, and that it's position nears Keswick was ideal for exploring the Lake District, and look forward to returning in the future..

The photograph on the website was of the front of a large old building suggesting the property was one of the apartments shown.. However, the building has 4 wings built around a central enclosed courtyard. The apartment being let was not shown on the website and was in the wing to the right of the front of the building. The apartment has no views whatsoever, despite the website saying it does. The apartment itself was modern and well equipped but was damp, smelled like an old wet dog, had mould on the inside of the window frames, cobwebs in every room and the bath and shower plug holes were both blocked. Worst of all, the bed sheets were stained and appeared unwashed.

We had a lovely stay and would recommend.. The hob and oven are electric and not gas as listed. There are only two car parking spaces and not three as listed. Neither of these mattered to us but would be good to correct on the listing. There was also a grumpy man who lived in one of the apartments or cottages who was trying to stop people accessing the courtyard from the rear even though it was an access route and the only alternative fire exit. He pulled a grit bin with a spade on top to try and stop people. He seems to have no right to do this as well as blocking a fire exit. This issue should be rectified.

We came hear for a week in the middle of the heat wave in July 2018. One great advantage of Maple cottage in a heat wave is that it gets little direct sunlight and so it was a delightful cool haven. We slept in the rear bedroom which is also nice and cool. The single beds were very comfortable and I had the best nights sleep for many years! This was despite the fact that even with the curtains drawn it was very light at sunrise. The ensuite shower is very good and powerful. The only problem being it does not drain quickly enough when on full power. There is a second bedroom with a double bed, this is a little small and as there were no suitcase stands we used this for our suitcases. There is a large kitchen-dining-living room and I loved the two 2-seater settees which incorporated electrically operated recliners. I also liked the fact that the standard lamp could be switched on/off using a foot operated switch on the floor. The kitchen included a large fridge freezer and washing machine, dish washer and it was very well equipped with everything( pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc) in very good condition. However, there were no welcoming cakes, milk etc on arrival. We found a two page instruction sheet under the TV giving instructions on the WIFI, TV, boiler etc. WIFI was good but we are not high demand users. ITV player was not registered and so was not available to non-uk residents. I found the TV very fiddly to use. There was plenty of hot water on demand. The flat is reasonably quiet and only the most heavy footed people upstairs were just heard. Maple cottage has 2 parking places about 30 yards from the front door. To unload you can bring the car to the front door but you still have to lug you cases another ~20 yards to the cottage which inside a central courtyard. The windows face onto a maple tree in the courtyard. However a short walk to the outside of the house gives great views of the mountains and the grounds contain lots of rabbits as well as bats later in the evening. The walk into Keswick via the old railway track took us about half an hour while it was only a five minute drive by car. The first part of the drive to the apartments is a rough track which might be a problem for some sports cars but was no problem for our 4x 4 and apparently for most of the other standard cars. The most annoying flaw is the absence of any hooks to hang coats, dressing gowns etc. This is especially annoying in the bathroom and bedrooms. Likewise the absence of anywhere to put soap and shampoo in the shower was annoying. 2.5 days before we left we reported a blocked toilet. This was not fixed while we there though about 4 hours after we left we had a phone call apologising that it had not been fixed. As a couple we really enjoyed our stay at Maple cottage and will definitely consider coming again. Potentially this could be a 5 star apartment but the lack of hooks, a welcome tray and poor maintenance means I can only give it 4 star rating.

The apartment was very comfortable however the double bed may require a new mattress soon and perhaps the towels.. We were surprised to find there was only a view of the courtyard from the apartment and that the main photograph showed two totally different apartments which was misleading. Having said that the apartment was very quiet and we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I enjoyed the reclining settees after a long days walk and the apartment was the best equipped we have ever experienced. We would definitely stay again.

Very spacious, comfy, well equipped accommodation, situated in a quiet area of Keswick with easy access to the centre, either in about 15 mins walking or 5 mins in the car. Whilst instructions manuals for appliances were available the only thing we would have expected, but was not provided was a short information sheet with information such as where the bins are and what day they're collected, what time the heating is set to come on and off, etc. We worked it out pretty quickly so it wasn't a major issue , but we're used to having one provided. An excellent , relaxing week's accommodation and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

The property was comfortable and suitable for our stay. However, the drive up to the property is off road and then when you reach the perimeter of the property it is tarmaced. However, where these two roads meet has been damaged and we were really reluctant and nervous to drive our car over each time. On the up side this meant we did more walking! The property itself was warm, cosy, suitable for 4 adults to stay at a time.

We enjoyed a week at Maple Cottage in mid-June with two friends from Germany who were entranced with the whole experience of seeing the Lakes in wonderful sunny weather. Maple Cottage was adequate for our needs and we enjoyed the views from the shared garden. We had expected to enter the property via a lovely drive as advertised and so the pot holed single track came as a shock. One evening our car stopped half way up and during the half hour it took us to sort things out, we had to stand at each end of the drive to prevent other cars coming up or going down the track. The cottage was cosy but dark as it was off the centre courtyard which even in mid summer gets very little sun. Again, we felt the brochure was a little misleading. However, we were pleased that the central heating could be turned on to warm things up when necessary. We chose this cottage as it is one of the few two bedroomed properties with two shower rooms, which was a real bonus. The ensuite needs a shelf over the sink for toiletries. The lounge area was comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. The kitchen knives need sharpening and if the weather had been bad we were not sure where wet clothes would have hung - probably on the kitchen chairs. The best thing about the cottage is its lovely position with the views from the garden, good carparking and its convenience to Keswick.

The building and the grounds are excellently maintained, clean and well presented; the room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped with washing machine and tumble dryer, dishwasher, cooking facilities and excellent shower and bathrooms. Although the building is divided into a number of appartments we still had a great level of privacy and our stay was not affected by any other residents. The only negative for our party was the location. It was not as close the the town centre of Keswick as we thought. It is around a 25 minute walk to the main shops and pubs and we were making this trip (there and back twise per day), driving was out of the question as we were spening our nights in the pubs. In addition to this the long, secluded drive approach to the accomodation is badly lit (i.e. no street lighting at all) which meant without a torch it was pitch black. This coupled with the rough, non existent tarmac / paving on the drive could become hazzardous, especially in icy weather as it was at the time. The only other suggestion I would make would be to improve the directions provided when booking, it took us at least half an hour driving around the area, with which we are all unfamiliar, until we found our way. Overall though I would recommend the cottage to friends and family, depending on their intentions whilst in the area. If this was to spend the day out, but the evenings and nights in the cottage relaxing I would strongly advise this location.

Great cottage to stay in, well equipped kitchen. Plenty of space, decent bedding and room size adequate. Very warm central heating works well, it would have been nice to have a fire as we did not always need the heating. The cottage is in a good position and it is an easy walk into Keswick. Had it been better weather there are grounds to sit in and chairs are provided for outside use. The cottage has no view so if you want to sit by the cottage there is nothing to look at.

We spent a 7 night break at Maple Cottage. The clean and comfortable accommodation had everything we needed for the week. There was a fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom, a twin room with en-suite with shower and a separate large bathroom with shower and bath. There was a peaceful patio outside the door with table and chairs. There was also a large communal garden by the car park with benches with a lovely view over Keswick. It was a 5 minute walk down the drive and we often saw rabbits and bats. It was a further 5 minute walk to the main roads and bus service - a short journey to get ongoing buses to Borrowdale and Honister. We often took the steady half an hour walk into the town, our favourite way was to take the Keswick Railway Footpath. There were plenty of walking opportunities. From the bottom of the drive we were able to walk up to Castlerigg Stone Circle, on to Threlkeld and return via the Keswick Railway Footpath.

The location of Maple Cottage (which is one apartment in a much larger house) is second-to-none. Great views of Blencathra behind and Whitlatter Forest etc. from the front carpark. Also, very conveniently just on the edge of Keswick - we walked in and back several times (with a baby) so it's fine. I liked not being right in the centre. The apartment is very well equipped and clean. The bedrooms and bathrooms were great. The living area/kitchen is a little on the small side for 4 people (plus a baby for us) and if the weather was bad and you had more time there it might get a little claustraphobic. However, this is the only thing I'd say that brings it down. I think overall I would give Maple Cottage a good rating (though annoyingly there is nothing inbetween average and very good, which is a bit stupid!). I would consider something Excellent if I would return to it without hesitation instead of trying a new place, and it doesn't quite get there for me. However, we all had a lovely time (helped by good weather) and the location and facilities were great. Oh - a bit storage area and some hooks on the backs of bathroom doors would have been good!

Me, my brother and a friend spent 7 nights in Maple Cottage and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The cottage has literally everything you need, it is very spacious, comfortable and well maintained. We found it to be ideally situated for our week of Hiking, Kayaking, Ghyll Scrambling and Mountaineering. It is just far enough out of town to make it a very peaceful place with good views of the Derwent Lake and Fells beyond but it is also close enough when you need the shops for food or a nice pub for a pint. It is safe to say we will be back.

A beautiful 2 bedroom cottage in the heart of the Lake District. Fieldside Grange is on the outskirts of Keswick, not far from Castlerigg Stone Circle. The town centre is just a 15 minute walk away or 5 minute drive. Keswick is ideally situated to some of the The Lake Districts most beautiful fells.

We booked the cottage and paid our money with no problems at all. When we arrived at the cottage we were instantly amazed and pleased with our choice. We had our 1 year old daughter with us and consider the cottage to be very safe for children of this age. The location was secluded but not too far from the town. We had a small problem with the heating whilst we were there but it got fixed with no hassle what so ever. We loved the cottage and where it is set, we were lucky enough to have fabulous weather and I honestly can't think of anything negative. I have already looked at available dates for next years holiday! Would definitely stay again.

The service was very good- we booked on line which was easy and there were no problems at all. Maple Cottage is warm and cosy and had all the comforts of home. The only down side was the drive up from the main road- I worried about my car at times although we did see deer a few times on the 'hobbit run' as we called it. The cottage is close to Keswick which is useful for nights out.

Maple Cottage is in a quiet area of Keswick that is easy to find. The cottage is well planned out, especially having the ensuite off the twin-bedded room. The kitchen has good facilities. Parking is clearly labelled so you know that there will always be somewhere to park. This cottage is ideally located for walking. Our family had an enjoyable fortnight here this summer and would consider returning again.

The cottage was spacious and clean with modern bathrooms and kitchen however some maintenance issues need addressing to live up to 4* status. The lounge carpet was in need of shampooing to remove dirty marks and there was an assortment of broken and chipped crockery in the cupboards. The main disappointment however was the misleading description of the view from the cottage. I specifically booked this accommodation for the "magnificent views towards Keswick and Derwentwater". Maple Cottage however is within a courtyard with no views at all. The courtyard itself was rather shabby and neglected and needed a good scrape and sweep. The "private patio" was not private but shared and overlooked by other cottages and the outside light of the next door property kept me awake. I would stay at Fieldside Grange again as the location is superb but not at Maple Cottage. I think that the description of the accommodation should be amended and be more honest. Not everyone wants a view but it's at the top of my list.
