So much to tell you.. We were so lucky to find a place which will accept 4 dogs as we had a last-minute cancellation happen to us from elsewhere, so our options were very limited, but this cottage came up and was just perfect! Rich and Shell are great hosts, so lovely, helpful in fact they are inspirational people. The cottage itself was comfortable and very clean, and we had a welcome pack on arrival which included dog treats for all our dogs. We needn’t have gone shopping until the next day as we had traveled light as we only have a small car. When we always go to new places there is always a slight sense of trepidation, as our Dogs are well behaved but will bark if anyone come too close or they hear other dogs. We were put at our ease by the comments of the hosts as they are basically not going to disturb anyone as the garage opposite is the only place that might hear them and the hosts who have their rescued dogs to. The reality was only once or twice a day did they have a bark so nothing to worry about. The place was more like ‘Doggie heaven’ as far as our dogs were concerned. They had their enclosed private garden to play in and an odd friend or 2 next door we all chilled out. Yes, the property is next to a main road, but the same is true of our home, so there is a little road traffic noise so what. Its more noticeable if the windows open and yes there is occasional throughout the night, if you happen to be awake, but nothing exceptional. However, the dogs and us slept well, perhaps it was the extra dog walking and traveling as the cottage is well-placed for touring the area. We enjoyed trips out to the coast so the Dogs could run along the beach for 2 of them for their very first time. There were also some beautiful local woodland walks nearby and yes one of them found the only muddy patch and lied in it. We all had a fantastic break and are re-booking as soon as we can which sadly will be 2022. We would have stayed another week if we could, but work and they had another booking immediately after us, made it a no. One of the few holidays when we weren’t glad to be back home again. We will be back and stay again and again and again, as there are so many things to do in the commutable area both near and withing an hour and a half’s drive. For genuine real dog people book with confidence.

Just returned from a lovely week away with my parents and 4 doggies.. We traveled far to find somewhere that would take our dogs as options where limited but the cottage felt like a home away from home. Greeted by the lovely hosts who respected privacy but allowed their warm presence to be their which we enjoyed. Lovely care package when arrived and a gift for our dogs when we left. We spent a lot of time exploring Dorset and recommend West Bay especially!! The pub down the road called the kings arms does the most amazing food. Nail salon ‘Sky Nails’ saved the day in gillingham and highly recommend for a little pamper. The cottage also had horses, Shetland ponies and donkeys on site which we enjoyed feeding carrots to on the occasional evening which was a brilliant bonus. Overall, one of the best UK breaks I have been on and a lot of that was down to the lovely cottage and owners. Thankyou for having us. We are forever grateful for this remarkable holiday and the doggies send a smooch.

I have complained about this property officially and have had no constructive communication from yourselves.. The people at this property were lovely but the place did not live up to expectations as it was not clean and smelt terribly!! We only stayed two nights, after contacting yourselves and speaking to the owners and have been offered no compensation. In fact we had to spend more money to stay somewhere so our holiday was not totally ruined! I feel some compensation is the least that could be offered!!!

Great little cottage in easy reach of local shops.. A great base for a good holiday. The host are very welcoming and helpful. We rented this cottage over Christmas and the place was decorated for us by the owners which was a lovely surprise. The welcome pack for us humans and also for the dogs was gratefully appreciated. Highly recommend this place to anyone with pets looking for a holiday in Dorset

The couple who let this pretty little cottage live next door and are a lovely, friendly couple who made us feel very welcome.. They were so helpful in recommending places to visit and places to eat and all were spot on. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here and would recommend to anyone looking for a great base in Dorset.

The holiday started brilliantly with a very warm welcome from our host's Rich and Shell.. The cottage itself was comfortable and very clean, and we had a welcome pack on arrival which included dog treats for our little dog Poppy , which was a nice touch. It was a good location situated on a donkey sanctuary which Rich and Shell ran, and the donkeys were so cute. The only draw back was the cottage was located on a busy road, but again great for touring and easy to find. Lots of nice doggy walks locally so good walking boots came in handy. All in all a very restful and chilled little break , all batteries well and truly charged.

We loved the fact that we could take 3 dogs to the property and that it was spotless and well-placed for touring - not always easy to find this combination! The owners were so hospitable and went out of their way to make this a fabulous break. They suggested some beautiful woodland walks and interesting places to visit. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage.

We had absolutely brilliant sunny week at Majestic cottage.. The owners couldn't be more helpful and kind. Everything was perfect, cottage was clean and very warm even we were there in the middle of the February. Lovely garden and fields full of horses and donkeys. The location of the cottage is perfect to visit Stonehenge, Old Wardor Castle, Westbury White Horse, Osmington White Horse, Durdle Door, Avebury, Ladram Bay and Charmouth Beach for fossil hunting, Kimmeridge Bay etc. We definitely would love to come again. Thank you! S&J

Majestic cottage is a charming, warm, pretty cottage.. The owners Rich and Michelle go that xtra mile to ensure everything is as it should be. We have had a wonderful week here with our three dogs, it’s been very relaxing and enjoyable and just loved Sherborne and Shaftsbury, not sure I would walk down and up Gold Hill again it’s so steep (this is where the hovis commercial and two Ronnie sketch was filmed). Just loved meeting Rich and Michelle and their Dogs, Donkeys and ponies, such lovely people made us feel so at home.

A wonderful 2 week break in a spacious but cosy and clean cottage.. The location is really convenient for getting to different places. The owners were amazing and just as much made the holiday as the other fun things we did. I’ve stayed in a lot of other holiday cottages with work and never felt so welcomed or at home. These guys nailed it on the head in every way, we will definitely be going back to this lovely little small holding. The Christmas lights went up during our stay and it looks magical. Well done guys and thank you for a wonderful stay. We will see you soon x

Disgusting dirty cottage. We spent 2 hours degreasing the kitchen and washing crockery before we could make a cup of tea. The place stank and the beds were dreadful. The bathroom was a hive of filth. We book for a week and stay two nights all going home with bad backs due to the thin mattresses on the beds. They have a lot of animals and the cottage smelt like they over wintered them in there. The noise from the main road traffic is hurendous and the stairs are certainly not child friendly.

We stayed at the Majestic with our 6 year old daughter in May half-term and we were then joined later in the week by our friends and their 6 year old (and little puppy). The owners Shel and Rich could not be more welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The cottage has lovely paddocks at the back where you can sit in the lovely gardens overlooking the ponies and donkeys and watch the sunset. The owners very kindly took the girls out in the paddocks to meet their animals which the girls obviously loved! We were very lucky with the weather and even managed a lovely bbq on the last night which made a perfect end to a lovely week. There is a great pub/restaurant nearby (the Kings Arms in East Stour) which serves excellent (and very reasonably priced) food. We also took a drive out to Sherborne Castle (about 20 min drive away) and had a lovely day there walking around the Castle and the beautiful grounds. We were all sad to say goodbye to the Majestic and to Shel and Rich (and their animals) and the girls (and Bobby the puppy) were all delighted with the little treat they were given as we left. Thank you Shel & Rich!

A lovely cottage in a great central location to explore Dorset and the surrounding counties. This cottage is a must for dog owners as the fully enclosed garden lets you relax knowing they'll be safe. The shared garden has a barbecue and seating area so you can spend your evenings relaxing outside. The cottage is clean and very comfortable with everything you should need, however if anything else is required, the owners Shel and Rich are only too happy to help. We will definitely go back.

Lovely owners who were very kind, helpful and friendly. The cottage had everything we needed and was warm cosy on the cold winter days we stayed there. It has beautiful gardens. The owners take on looking after old and homeless donkeys of different breeds, it's a beautiful sight seeing them out in the fields surrounding the cottage.

The owners were very warm and inviting. The cottage was beautifully decorated and homely, it was clean and well maintained throughout, the garden both the shared and private were lovely, enclosed and well kept. The donkeys, ponies, horses and fish were a great bonus for my 6 year old grandson. It was situated a short drive away from places such as Monkey World, The Tank Museum, beaches, Poole, Shaftesbury and lots of other places of interest. We were never bored there was always something to do, the owners would suggest things if you needed help deciding. We would will gladly return.

We had a really good stay in this cottage and were made very welcome by the owners. Nothing was too much trouble and we left with the impression that we had made two more friends. It was particularly nice to be able to make friends with all the animals too. We had guests stay for one night with us in the cottage and it pleased me to note that they in turn received the same warm welcome.

The owners were very welcoming and warm. Nothing was too much trouble for them to make our stay perfect. The cottage was nicely decorated, clean and inviting, the amenities were modern. Both the private and shared garden were well maintained. The horses, ponies and donkeys were a treat and my son (6) loved them. It was also a short drive to Monkey World, Poole, Tank Museum, Hawk Conservancy, beaches and many other places of interest. We loved everything about the cottage, owners and location we are already planning our next holiday at the Majestic, we can't wait! The Marshment / Abbott Family
