Lough Eske House Self-Catering

Holiday home
Lough Eske House is a detached cottage set near Donegal Town in Ireland. It offers four double bedrooms, two with en-suites, as well as two family bathrooms, the property can sleep eight people. The inside also comes with a kitchen/diner, a utility and two sitting rooms both with open fires. To the outside you will find off road parking for four or five cars, as well as lawned areas to the front and side of the property. Lough Eske House is a stylish cottage in a wonderful Irish location.

Donegal Town is in the south of County Donegal, where the River Eske flows into Donegal Bay. The town is home to a castle and Murvagh Beach. The area is great for fishing, with numerous rivers and lakes available. Donegal Golf Club and Murvagh Links Course provide a stunning backdrop. The beach at Rossnowlagh is backed by Slieve League, framed by the coast of the Atlantic. For Irish scenery, drive along Glengesh Pass, with Slieve League, Glenveagh National Park and Castle and Malin Head, or enjoy Donegal Festival in July or the Taste of Donegal Food Festival in Late August.

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

Oil fired central heating with additional heating from open fires in each of the two sitting rooms. Electric oven and hob, microwave, American fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, TV with Sky channels, WiFi, selection of books and games. Fuel and starter packs for open fires included in rent. Bed linen and towels included in rent. Off road parking for 4/5 cars. Lawned garden to front and side of property. One small well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Pub 3 miles, shop 6 miles. Note: There is a step in the large entrance hall that leads to the various rooms, so care should be taken.

Lovely location , overlooking Lough Eske. House just like photos. Bridgeen was very accommodating, text her many times before we arrived . Lovely touch the cake . House could do with a real deep clean, water was very discoloured( so bring your own) . Quiet location and perfect for a relaxing break . Overall a very enjoyable experience . A good base for travelling about . Would recommend totally . Thank you Bridgeen

Loved Lough Eske House. Peaceful, relaxing and idyllic. Beautiful views. I agree with previous guests it could do with a deep clean and a review of all plates and utensils.I would do this with my sisters for a free week! Sorry we did not meet Bridgeen, she sounds lovely! I feel it would be best for owner to clear fridge and all food, herbs etc when previous guests leave as no way of knowing how long they are there and not everyone likes using stuff from other people. There was also lots of dirty and chipped cups i would throw out. Great for kids with games books etc. Like other guests sorry i could not use bath because of brown water. The bedroom views were fabulous. I have recommended to many!

Spent a week at Lough Eske House. The house is set in a beautiful location with stunning views over Lough Eske and the Bluestack Mountains. It's a very spacious well equipped house and the huge bathtub and jacuzzi bath are lovely extras. The huge bed in the master bedroom is so comfortable. Plenty of coal left for the fire. Plenty of towels and beds freshly made up. Could do with a deeper clean. The oven smoked really badly due to caked on dirt which kept setting off the smoke alarm right above it. Microwave, fridge and sink not the cleanest. However these were minor issues and we really enjoyed the space throughout our week. The neighbours' dogs and cats come for visits which is very sweet. We visited Donegal town, took the waterbus tour and checked out all the beaches in the area. All in all we were sorry to leave and would definitely recommend the house to anyone looking for a relaxing lakeside retreat.

Lough Eske House was really fab and lived up to expectations.. House was lovely and warm for this time of the year, plenty of fuel left for lighting stove in living room which added to the cosiness. Bridgeen was very accommodating for later check out.

The owner Bridgeen was really lovely and helpful.. The only thing really that was a bit off putting was the brown water but that is to be expected in the countryside, was disappointed not to use the Jacuzzi bath but that was my own OCD, couldn't bring myself to lay in the brown water. Apart from that the house is beautiful and the views are to die for, would definitely love to go back. Thank you

An amazing 4 double bedroomed house with four bathrooms. it has two lounges with open fires. The views from all rooms overlooking lovely Lough Eske. were amazing. It was a great place for family to meet and would be a fab place for a Christmas get together. Two lovely hotels very near apart from Donegal town which offers lots of eating places to suit all pockets.

We have stayed in several Sykes cottages now and this was by far the best.. The level of cleanliness was amazing. I always bring my own cleaning products but on this occasion I didn’t need to use them. The house was also very warm and cosy and the views over the Lough very amazing. The apple pie and bread were also a lovely touch.

The support and help from Sykes were amazing.. Nothing was too much trouble and our several e mails asking questions were answered the same day. Outstanding polite and friendly service. Was disappointed with the cleanliness of the kitchen cupboards and no meet and greet to tell us how things worked etc,. Had been left a lovely apple pie, thank you. Only 1 key was an issue too with 7 adults sharing. The hose is amazing and beautiful location. Thank you

The location is stunning and the house well set-out and equipped.. The owner Bridgeen was extremely helpful and it was the first property we have stayed at in Ireland where the owner suggested a meeting place close to property so we could find the house very easy, a very smooth and effective check-in process.. Lough Eske is a great area very close to Donegal Town . There is a circular walk of the Lough of about 16km which we did in about 3.5hours. We were very lucky with the weather: for a week, we got caught for about 1 hour only during our walks. Donegal Town is a busy town, great for shops pubs and restaurants. There is a very good Supervalu Supermarket close to the centre of town, which was recommended by Bridgeen. We recommend the Indian Restaurant in Donegal, Chandpur, great quality of food at reasonable prices. The pub close to Donegal Castle, the Old Castle Inn (I think that's the name or close to it) serves a great Guinness with Donegal Bay Oysters, excellent. County Donegal is a wonderful place to visit and it is also in easy reach of the Giants Causeway, Bushmills Northern Ireland which we had always wanted to visit. It took just over 2hours from the property, great day out. Melly's Fish and Chips restaurant in Killybegs is also recommended and a visit to the bay of Port and cliffs of Slieve League is a must. We had a wonderful holiday at Lough Eske House, thank you very much Bridgeen. We wish you well with your property renting and we are convinced that anyone who stays there will have a wonderful time too.

The house is incredible - and the host is brilliant.. Upon arrival Bridgeen gave us a warm welcome and a freshly made apple pie! The views are outstanding and it’s so quite - like a little slice of paradise. I think we definitely will be back. Also loved the cat and the neighbours dog came down to say hello everyday. We had a few issues but were resolved immediately by Bridgeen. Quality weekend.

Lough Eske House was absolutely beautiful. It was very warm and welcoming on arrival, around 3pm Saturday 24th March 2018. It was the start of a very bad week, weather wise, for nearly the whole of Ireland. We had a few skiffs and that was it, we couldn't have picked a better place to be. The 4 bedrooms were amazing, 2 were un-suite and 2 family bathrooms as well, 1 with a jacuzzi. The kitchen had every utensil you would need, plus dishwasher and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. We were spoilt by the fuel left to light the fire if we wanted..(1 in each of the 2 sitting rooms). The oil heating was a joy as the temperatures plummeted outside, we were very snug inside. Donegal Town itself was only 6km away and such a quaint and lovely town it is. Thank you Bridgeen for letting your lovely home, it was a real pleasure staying there.
