Self-Catering Reviews

Mrs Hamer
September 2020
Our friend Valerie originally booked the holiday but was unable to go herself as her daughter was needing care following an operation.. (This is why we can’t answer some of the questions.). We really enjoyed our visit to this Lodge, which was well appointed, clean and comfortable. Colin and Margaret Gibbs.

Although off the beaten track, lodge was located centrally for all local sights and amenities.. Good value, highly recommended.

This lodge is nicely secluded, facing the golf course so felt very private.. It was so nice & quiet every day & every night. The lake is great for fishing & a nice place to go for a picnic. The lodge very nicely furnished & comfortable. It was was clean & well stocked with linen towels crockery, glasses etc there was nothing missing. It would be nice if there was a barbeque available on the veranda. All it all a great holiday, just 7 days isn't enough

The lodge is very difficult to find in the dark on the site.. For the benefit of other guests: drive onto the site take the third turn on the right, this will lead you to a large gravel carpark. Drive straight forward up a narrow track, the lodge will be on your right. There is no signpost for the lodge and no order to the numbers, we arrived at 10pm in the dark after a long journey and it took us an hour to find the lodge. Please update the listing so other people do not have the same trouble. Once we got to the lodge it was lovely, excellent showers and super warm which was good for February. There are lots of things to do locally for kids including Big Sheep adventure park and the Milky Way. The road in from one side is more like a track but that adds to the adventure. There's a co-op 10 mins down the road good for supplies. The only other suggestion is having a small child we would have loved a washing machine instead of a dishwasher.

The lodge was very clean and well equipped.. The listing states that there are many leisure facilities on site but only fishing was available. The park was very difficult to find and the single track roads are in an appalling condition

The lodge was set in a beautiful peaceful secluded spot, such a lovely setting, it is not for anyone who wants facilities right on their door step, but for people like us who don't mind traveling to a shop or a café etc it is ideal.. The lodges are set in an outstanding setting, far enough apart not to feel overlooked or intruded by near neighbours. Woodland all around with footpaths for walking. It is difficult to find but for us that added to the charm of our holiday.

Beautiful lodge in a quiet setting, made two changes to our booking - number of people and dates, and it was no problem! Quick feedback to my emails as well, thank you so much! We loved it!

A wonderful setting and a lodge that met all of our expectations.. We will certainly book a return visit. The only slight issue were the directions which weren't as clear as we had thought when faced with numerous Devon lanes. No account of whether we were coming from the north or south on the A39. This apart a wonderful holiday.

Peace and quiet and it was lovely watching the wildlife which came right up to the veranda; rabbits badgers and foxes. We loved watching them.
