7 of us have just returned from a long weekend stay. The house is tricky to find, down what looks like someone's driveway in the middle of a council estate but the house itself is set back with with gorgeous views over the canal. Hot tub was lovely and always hot, the house had everything we needed and accepted dogs. It is decorated lovely, old with the new. The only faults I would say it that the garden is very small and the house is noisy, the walls are so thin you can hear every noise in the house no matter what level you are on. It was spotlessly clean and each bedroom was a good size with plenty of bathrooms and storage space. Good walks on the doorstep too

Stayed at Lock View for 3 nights, prior to arriving owner messaged to ask if any requests etc, when we arrived owner was there to meet us and show us around, they were very friendly, we could not fault this place it was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed, every room was beautifully decorated, the house is in a great location overlooking the canal and parking is located right outside the house, we would definitely return

Myself and 5 friends have just returned from a weekend staying at Lock View. Slightly tricky to find but luckily Kyle was there to guide us in. Parking for 2 cars beside house. The accommodation is spread over 3 floors with twin beds downstairs beside the large kitchen diner, lead out onto a small garden with a hot tub. On the next level was a large lounge another bedroom which was ensuite and a family bathroom. Another level up was 2 further bedrooms both ensuite one with a free standing bath. Its a new build and finished beautifully although its quite a noisy house. We spent the majority of our time in the kitchen. Had all the facilities we needed. We had a drive to Skipton which is a lovely town then in the evening went for a drink at the local pub just a few minutes walk away - they don't appear to get many strangers as the locals asked what we wanted after all staring at us when we walked in! The chip shop near the pub was lovely. The next day the sun was shining and we had a lovely walk along the canal before heading home. This is a lovely property and I would happily return.

Used lock view as accommodation for our wedding.. owners were helpful in arranging everything with some additional information. got married at Skipton registry office, (also very helpful). had wedding meal at cow and calf on Ilkley moor, (very nice). wedding photos by Georgie Brewster. visited Malham cove walks, Ingleborough waterfalls, Bolton Abbey and hired a day boat at Skipton boat hire. accommodation was just perfect at the end of each day and hot tub was great for recovery after all walking. had a great wedding and lovely holiday with family too. would love to do again (not the wedding bit of course). many thanks

Great house in a perfect setting.. The house is well equipped, very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hot tub perfect after a day out. Fantastic to watch the boats going through the lock, and some lovely walks along the canal path. We could watch the murmuration of starlings in the fields which was fascinating. 2 great pubs, and the Bollywood Indian restaurant has to be one of the best takeaways we have had.

Absolutely fabulous cottage with all the amenities you could hope for. Located close to the canal & really convenient for travelling around the Yorkshire Dales. Skipton & Grassington close by. Facilities are second to one and the owner was more than helpful on arrival. Brilliant welcome pack awaited us and the cottage was trimmed up for Christmas which was a really nice touch. Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage & myself and the 3 friends who visited with me are considering hiring it again.

The house was lovely and the welcome gifts were surprising but very welcome, the house was much nicer than we imagined it would be and everyone who visited us over Christmas when we were there were impressed with it..

Lock View is a fabulous cottage with all amenities exactly as described.. 3 en-suite bathrooms all beautifully decorated and immaculate. The kitchen has everything you could need - we had an amazing family holiday and would definitely recommend for a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. The hot tub was an added advantage after a day out walking - wonderful!

Great house and hosts.. Sykes are easy to deal with and we look forward to staying at other properties in the future. Would be handy to know on cottage details if possible if there is outdoor facilities to dry washing. Appreciate a lot have tumble drivers, but would be handy to know if we could peg out weather permitting.

Lock view is a very clean, comfortable house in the village of Gargrave.. It has lovely views over lock 31 on the Leeds, Liverpool canal and you can sit on the balcony watching the barges go through. The house is well equipped and has the added bonus of a large hot tub in the back garden. We did many local walks and didn't really need the car most days. Locally the pubs are good, the best pub food is the Old Swan Inn and the Indian restaurant Bollywood Cottage is very good. There is lots to do locally and plenty more in Skipton. It's an easy 4 mile canal walk into Skipton and trains are available to Gargrave or a taxi back was only £9. In conclusion, a fabulous house, in a peaceful setting with plenty to do locally and nearby.

The house was absolutely perfect for our needs.. Exactly what we wanted. We can't give praise high enough for the cleanliness. It was very well appointed with every need anticipated. We stayed with 6 adults, a baby and a dog, and it was perfect for us. The welcome pack was extremely helpful and the owners left us some lovely surprises. The views were fantastic with lots of people watching to do from the balconies. I'm sure we will return in future. We have stayed at many very good Sykes properties in the past but this was by far the best.
