Littlebeck is perfectly located at the bottom of Honister Pass! We enjoyed many walks from the door, as well as walks where we caught the regular bus (77/77A) to our starting point (eg Buttermere). We could easily have filled another week and so are already planning to come back next year! We walked to the pub a Stonethwaite (30 mins) as well as driving over Honister Pass to Buttermere (Fish Inn) and Loweswater (Kirkstile Inn). The cottage was beautiful and as we had a sunny week we spent a relaxing hour after each walk enjoying the garden. The only small improvement would be a new set of saucepans and frying pans - otherwise perfect.

A couple of disappointing issues.. I was unaware of the parking costs having to use the national trust car park at the cost of £7.50 per day. also the tiles behind kitchen sink all bulging off and only third of a toilet roll left for use. No dishcloth for use. Instructions to put out wheelie bin for collection it was more than half full clearly not put out for weeks surely that is the owner or cleaners responsibility. We have booked another cottage in October I hope that will not be so disappointing.

This was an absolutely wonderful location for a cottage. Seatoller is deep in Burrowdale and there are umpteen walks from the doorstep. Unfortunately Seatoller's tearoom was closed for the off season so there was nowhere to eat within quick walking distance. The Langstrath Inn down the road in Stonethwaite is well worth the short drive however. The cottage itself was the perfect size for us. A cosy kitchen and living area, and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs plus an extra toilet. The cottage was really clean and the bathroom seemed to have been renovated fairly recently. However the kitchen could do with some updating and while it had most equipment it didn't have big enough pots and pans for family cooking so we found ourselves spreading cooking over two pans. There was a working dishwasher and washer/dryer which was a great help. The TV and Bose speaker were good quality. There was even free internet, although it was painfully slow. The electric heaters were mostly ok but we were glad we'd brought an extra plug in heater to make downstairs more comfortable. We also made use of the log fire on a couple of evenings. The garden was a nice space but could do with some work to make it more pleasant. At the back of the garden beyond the wall there was a stream which was quite good for the kids to paddle in and keep themselves amused - just remember to keep an eye on them. As explained on the advert daytime parking is only available in the off-season. This was a fine for us as we came before Easter, but if you visit in the high season you'll need to use the nearby National Trust car park. The owner was responsive and helpful over email with a couple of queries we had.

We stayed for 7 night in May at Littlebeck with our 7 month old baby and had a wonderful first holiday as a family of 3. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Very well equipped for a family with a little one including highchair and travel cot. The washing machine came in very handy! The location was perfect. 15 minute drive from Kesick and some lovely shops and lots of breathtaking walks right from the doorstep. We found all the guidebooks and information really useful. We could have stayed for another week as there were so many walks and activities we wanted to try. We were extremely lucky that we had gorgeous weather all week and only used the wood burning stove once. The cottage was warm in the evenings and we made lots of use of the garden and BBQ. We would definitley come back for another holiday.

Brilliant location for walking directly from the cottage.. Nice and clean on arrival, but a couple of issues that could be rectified. Dishwasher not working, and sign on it looks quite old so may have been broken for a while. Extractor above cooker not working that caused fire alarms to go off when cooking fried breakfast. The bathroom door lock and catch was broken so door did not shut or lock. We did light the log burner 1 evening as it was a bit chilly, but it failed to heat the bedroom radiator like it says it should do. Also I feel the patio and back garden could do with some TLC as they both look neglected and overgrown. Don't get me wrong, we really enjoyed our stay, but we just felt these issues could be easily rectified with a bit of time and effort. Regards Neil Baker ****Owner Response**** Thank you for your feedback and we are very pleased you enjoyed your stay at Littlebeck. The cleaners informed us on the morning of your arrival that the dishwasher wasn’t functioning. The repair company said this was due to a previous guest mistakenly using a laundry tablet - the machine is now working fine. We have replaced the fuse in the extractor fan above the oven and spent this week working to improve the garden now that winter is over. We have checked the bathroom lock and the radiator in the bedroom. Both of which are working. It is worth noting that to heat the radiator in the bedroom from the fire will need to be going for some time, as it needs to warm the water in the system. However, there is an electric radiator in the bedroom if you require additional warmth.

Only minor issue was the single mattresses in twin room were very bouncy, not firm at all.. Above all it was a fantastic cottage and would definitely return!

My wife and I booked this for a trip away with a young Baby and our dog. We have 2 older kids at school and thought it would be nice to pretend it was just us with a young Baby so roped in the grandparents! I have to admit I didn’t read any reviews before booked. I think that’s a god thing because the first 2 reviews must have been from a different owner / timeline on this property. Overall we had a great stay. Keswick and the shops / cafes there is great and a short drive away. The honnister pass slate mine and the meres beyond are stunning. The house has a generous kitchen for a 2 bed property and us well equipped. There is a large wood burner with back boiler for the master bedroom radiator and the electric radiators make it very cosy when it’s cold outside. In the living area there are 2 arm chairs and a sofa, a dining table with chairs and tv, dvd, freesat and obviously a scrabble set! I’d have no hesitation in bringing the whole family of 5 for as long as our littlest is in a travel cot or ready bed. Thanks for a nice early winter break.

Perfect location all round, short enough drive to Keswick, plenty of activities on the door step, and spectacular walking starting from your front door! The cosy cottage was warm and cosy! It had everything needed for a comfortable stay and was spotless. The only downside would be the main bed is rather uncomfortable and noisy, and there's no way of keeping dogs down stairs as is requested. However neither of these points would be enough to put us of coming back! We can't wait for our next visit!

The holiday cottage was in a brilliant location.. It was warm and cosy with the wood burner. the cottage was clean and tidy and had stunning views with a stream at the end of the garden. Only bad points I would say was the bed wasn't very comfy just being a memory foam mattress and it's very squeaky. Could do with a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs if you have a dog as I would of brought one with me if I had known. Other than that was really please with this comfy little cottage in an ideal location. Let me know if the bed gets changed and I will book again

As a previous reviewer has said, this place might sleep four, but you would be pushed to get four people downstairs in any comfort; especially after a long day on the hills. Overall, the cottage is pleasant enough... However, The microwave hadn’t been cleaned and was sticky with old food. Worst of all, the house was infested with wasps. Obviously, there had been some treatment as most of the wasps were half dead, but finding a load of wasps crawling all over the staircase wasn’t our idea of luxury. And yes, some of them were still active enough to sting you.

We visited this cottage as a last minute break and weren't expecting anything 'amazing' but we were still left a bit disappointed. Obviously not the owner's fault but we didn't realise Seatoller had it's own micro-climate and seemed to have a permanent rain cloud above it - this coupled with a few issues to do with comfort in the house itself made us almost leave mid-break! The cottage is very clean and all amenities available. However, the heating never came on and the guest book said to not touch the settings as they were in 'Summer mode'. There was also no starter pack put out for the log burner so had to ring the agency to get this the next day. The dishwasher didn't work, the small 2 seater sofa was not particularly somewhere for 2 people to put their feet up after a long day of walking and considering it's advertised as 'sleeps 4', I've no idea where they would all sit! They also advertise as pet friendly but when you get there pets are strictly forbidden upstairs, although I do agree with the policy of no dogs on furniture. The bed upstairs was uncomfortable and hard. The slightest movement made lots of noise and was kept awake constantly by this. The garden, although well kitted out, was overgrown, scruffy and not inviting and there appeared to be a daily influx of wasps into the upstairs of the house so possibly a nest somewhere? I paint a negative picture. Was the cottage liveable? Yes. Was it comfortable? Not really. Would I go back? No.
