After eight years of making this weekend pilgrimage, your hosts decided to quit the rat race in 2020 and set about redesigning this open and airy home with your needs in mind. There are many areas to relax both indoors and out, including a Southern-style porch out front, an inviting saltwater pool, a back patio with ten-person dining table and a stunning sunroom. The main living area feels vast thanks to its double-height ceiling, while the gas fireplace keeps things cosy on cooler nights. Each of the four spacious bedrooms has a full en-suite bathroom, and the fourth bedroom even comes with a sofa and TV for when you can't all agree on what to watch. If you can bear to pull yourself away, you're under a ten-minute drive from beautiful Orient Point or charming Greenport village, home to Kontokosta, the North Fork’s only waterfront winery. Outside Greenport, 8 Hands Farm sells fresh eggs, and hand-woven rugs and knitted clothing made using their own Icelandic sheep wool. Fifteen minutes away, you'll find Peconic Water Sports, where you can charter a boat, take a fishing tour, or rent a paddleboard. In contrast, those after a more genteel day out will find seventeen acres of highly Instagrammable flowering fields at Lavender by the Bay, a mile away from your home.
