I was met by the owner to collect the keys, shown where the heating controls were and the shower, and then left alone with no further visits, which is as it should be.. A bottle of wine and a box of chocolates are on the table for the visitor, which is a nice touch. For my cooking requirements, everything that I needed was available in the kitchen.
The views across the valley towards Strathpeffer and beyond are quite spectacular, with sliding doors accessing a small balcony, and it would be very pleasant to sit out there on a sunny day, which somehow eluded me during my stay! The location is pleasantly quiet, although a neighbour's heating boiler can occasionally intrude, it is of little concern, and out of the control of the owner.
Given the location, it is perhaps not surprising that there is no Wi-Fi available, which may put some people off, but with an aversion to social media, it was of little concern to me. There is a very good 4G signal strength, however.
For self-catering, there is a large Tesco in nearby Dingwall, and access to cheaper fuel there too.
