The Lodge was lovely, and would have exceeded expectations if the bed was more to our taste.. .....for us it was much too soft and the duvet seemed heavy, also a small coffee table and coasters would have been nice....other than that it was lovely, like being home from home.
We have uesd sykes on many occasions and evey time have been impressed ! They are our first choce evey time
Kestrel Lodge is in a very peaceful location and setting and the owners Mike and Michelle are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.. It is very comfortable and clean. This is the third year we have returned because we love it so much and can truly relax in Kestrel Lodge and the gardens. It feels like a second home. It is in a good location for exploring Exmoor.
The booking process is very easy and with regular update emails from Sykes Holiday very helpful. We hope to return to Kestrel Lodge next year.
Kestrel Lodge is a beautiful lodge in outstanding grounds and views that you are able to freely roam around.. Plenty of bird song and dark skies at night made this location very relaxing.
The lodge has everything you need, but the sofa was a bit low for someone with a back problem. The beds were very comfortable. Minor drawback is the outside staircase to the lodge, which ageing visitors could have minor difficulty with.
The owners are extremely approachable, helpful and informative about the area.
A lodge for all seasons YES!
A place to revisit YES!
Will I be back? YES. It's on the revisit list.
We did not occupy Kestrel Lodge .. Due to a cancellation we were offered Hunters Lodge ,at the same location but on the ground floor instead. We accepted this gladly as it made access easier. All of the above comments are therefore only relevant to Hunters Lodge.
Mike and Michele our hosts were friendly and very helpful. The location was lovely, 10 minutes from Dulverton and not far from the the edge of the moor proper. All 4 of us enjoyed our holiday and would like to return to Hunters Lodge again in the future.
Comfortable, clean, well equipped
I have been renting holiday properties at home and abroad for over thirty years. This was probably the best presented and thoughtfully equipped I have ever had the pleasure of staying in.
Extremely kind and helpfull hosts who provide us with a very well appointed flat that was in first class order. We enjoyed the cream tea after a very long journey. The house and flats are set in their own well kept grounds which are being re-vamped after disease in the trees. Excellent amenities nearby in Dulverton and the surrounding Exmoor. As over 70's the stairs were a challenge especially when wet.
Owners extremely helpful. Accommodation of the highest order.
All four of us was extremely happy with accommodation, gardens and surrounding area.
Excellent property with a warm and friendly welcome. Gardens to die for.
The property was in a quiet and peaceful location with easy access to Exmoor and the coast. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and we received a pleasant welcome with a tray of tea/coffee and home backed scones. The owners are very thoughtful and we enjoyed our stay at Kestrel Lodge.
