Property Description

Holiday home
Kestrel Cottage is a mid-terrace cottage close to the village of Silsden, just nine miles from Skipton. The cottage sleeps three people and has one double bedroom and one single together with shower room and separate ground floor basin and WC. Also in the cottage are a fitted kitchen and a sitting room with dining area and woodburner. Outside is ample off road parking and an enclosed garden with furniture. Situated on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales, Kestrel Cottage is a delightful cottage to use as a base for exploring this lovely part of the country.

Accomodation Details
Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x single. Shower room with shower, basin and WC. Ground floor basin and WC. Kitchen. Sitting room with dining area and woodburner.

Area
The pretty town of Silsden, set on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park, commands sweeping views of the River Aire and its valley, and has a thriving community with local amenities. Although Silsden was originally an agricultural town, the construction of the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal meant that it later became an important centre for the mill industry, however the local economy is now largely supported by tourism, and it has become a perfect place to stay and explore the local area. Down the Aire Valley lies historic Skipton, known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, a quaint market town boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008, the Academy of Urbanism voted the high street as the best shopping spot in Britain, and the Copper Dragon Brewery, opened in 2002, is highly rated in the CAMRA listings.

Region
From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Amenities
Ground source underfloor heating with woodburner. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, TV with FreeSat, Blu-ray, DVD, CD, radio, WiFi. Fuel, power and starter pack for woodburner inc. in rent. Further fuel on an honesty box basis. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair. Ample off road parking. We have been here three times now.. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The cottage has everything you could ask for. It is very well equipped and comfortable. It is in a good area for visiting many places, and is the only one that we have returned to. We will be back!

A really enjoyable weeks break in kestrel cottage, the cottage itself is spotless and is equipped with everything you need.. We loved the enclosed garden which was great for our dog, also you have use of the large grassed area at the front. There are lots of great walks straight from the door of the cottage, and the views are spectacular. All in all a very relaxing week and I wouldn't hesitate recommending the cottage as its fantastic, also a big thanks to the owner "liz" for her home cooking, the scones, cakes & biscuits were delicious. Will definitely go back.

Kestrel Cottage is a really cosy and warm away from it all retreat.. The weather was horrendous when we went but you wouldn’t have really known that from inside. The cottage is well equipped but we think would have benefitted from a proper arm chair in the living room as there were three of us and we struggled a little to get comfy for the evening. The dogs loved the space to run around outside chasing a ball and the rear enclosed garden was perfect for letting them out in the evening. Our bed was a little firm for us but that’s always personal taste, but we were always warm enough. It is a rural escape and because of that we did encounter a few problems with the WiFi, phone signal and tv reception but as I said the weather was awful so may have contributed to that. All in all though we had a lovely peaceful stay and the board games provided were really useful. The owners are really nice and did check in on us from time to time and as other people have said the scones, butter and jam are a really thoughtful touch.

I don't think the photos did the property justice, it's really lovely inside.. Tom and liz were really friendly and had baked scones for our arrival, even giving us a pot of homemade jam too. We had such a great weekend

The owners were convivial and made sure to greet us.. The cottage was very comfortable, very clean and well equipped - the welcome pack included milk, ground coffee, scones and locally made jam. There were a range of walking books, a well thought out directory and file of things to do within an hours drive, local walks from the cottage, reading books and games. We had a most enjoyable stay.

Everything was perfect! It was a home away from home for the 4 weeks we stayed whilst having work done on our home. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed plus lovely extras provided by Liz. The cottage is lovely and warm and so peaceful with stunning scenery. We honestly couldn’t have asked for more, Liz and Tom were absolutely fabulous! Thank you for making our stay so pleasant. Would 100% recommend :-)

What a wonderful cottage.. As I had to attend a course in a nearby village, Tom(owner) was more than willing to let us arrive an hour early so that I could leave most of my luggage and get the feel of the cottage, before rushing off for 2days. There was milk, tea, coffee and cakes waiting for us and unlike many other self-catering properties all the basics were in place. No need to buy toilet rolls, tissues, soap or cleaning items. Clean and comfortable and beautifully warm. All we needed was there, and the wall map of places to visit and folder of corresponding information, was inspired. Information on how to find the property, including a small local map, meant we already knew that there were supermarkets etc near by so food shopping could be done on arrival. The garden was very safe for our dog. We have already passed on the details to several friends as we thought it was great value for money, a real ‘home from home’. Many thanks,Tom and Liz.

Wonderful cottage that has been fantastically converted from it original purpose as farm buildings.. It is furnished and equipped to very high standards. Wonderful hosts, very friendly and welcoming would definitely want to return. Set in a magnificent location overlooking the town of Silsden and with beautiful views of Yorkshire Dales countryside. Tasty homemade scones and homemade damson jam were there to welcome us. Booking through booking.com didn't provide the best experience as our details were not passed to Sykes properly. Glad I rang to verify directions as the booking.com directions were wrong. Once through to Sykes the lady sorted things out very efficiently, would have been easier if we had been aware of Sykes and booked through them.

They say you get what you pay for in life.. Well in this case you get more than you pay for. Small extras were all included like providing milk, tea, coffee, extra toilet rolls, hand cleaner, wash up liquid etc all the things you normally have to take, or purchase once there. Owners were very polite and helpful. Cottage was very clean and well presented. Would recommend when using a sat nav to always start from the town as some of the roads from the cottage, if you turn left out of the lane, are a little adventurous. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed with our toddler and 6 month old baby.. We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very well equiped. Liz and Tom had thought of everything from washing machine pods to coffee and this made our stay very easy. Since (well behaved) dogs are allowed to stay I did wonder (despite the excellent reviews) whether I would be able to let our 6 month old crawl aound on the floor, but I needn't have worried, everything was perfect. We would definitely recommend staying here and would very much like to stay again in the future.

The little extras like the homemade scones and jam that greeted us.. Also we didn’t need to worry about the necessities like toilet roll, soap, and milk as Tom and Liz had put them in the cottage- it’s these little touches that make all the difference

Fantastic getaway holiday. Very nice walks in the area and there are maps of detailed walks to go for from the cottage. The cottage itself is lovely and homely. Our dog was welcome too which made the place feel a home away from home. With a helpful friendly welcome in unusually snowy conditions the owners even helped to send left property- thank you!

I absolutely loved the remoteness of this cottage and its accompanying scenery. The cottage was warm, well equipped and wonderfully welcoming. Indeed, the freshly baked mince pies presented on arrival were extremely well received. It is clear that much thought has been given to ensure guests make the most of their stay. There is lots of information about local amenities. There is also lots of detailed information about local walks. I would not hesitate in recommending this cottage to others.

Beautiful hill top location with fantastic views across the Dales. Exceptional cottage - cosy and warm and furnished to a high standard and with everything you could need. Dog friendly too with an enclosed garden. Liz and Tom are great hosts - home made scones and jam on arrival. Silsden town is only a short drive down the hillside with plenty of shops pubs and restaurants. So much to do and see in this area a week wasn't long enough!

We stayed at Kestrel Cottage last week and it was lovely. Tom & Liz are so welcoming and helpful without being intrusive and Liz's freshly baked scones on arrival were to die for! The scenery was beautiful and it was very tranquil (bar the occasional cow or sheep!). In a good location for the southern part of the Dales, the cottage has all mod cons and all the facilities you'd want. Highly recommended - you won't be disappointed!

We arrived at the cottage, after an awful journey. We were met by the owners, who showed us round. They left scones, butter and jam for us, along with milk and tea. This was fantastic. The cottage is absolutely stunning. The views are great, it is extremely comfortable, and was equipped with everything we needed. The cottage has a dishwasher and washing machine, which is really great. The free wi-fi and Freesat television, make it home from home. We would recommend this to anybody, and would love to return in the future.

A wonderful cottage and in immaculate condition. The roaring log fire with good supply of wood made the weekend very enjoyable. There were great walks from the doorstep with lots of information provided. There were wonderful views and it was a peaceful location, but the local town was available for the usual sundries if needed. It was dog friendly too!

We stayed for a short break at Kestrel Cottage, just 3 nights. The cottage is fabulous, beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated. It has everything you are likely to need and is a most relaxing place to stay. Incredibly peaceful with just the sound of the occasional sheep and cow in the surrounding fields. Views from the cottage and garden are lovely, looking down over Silsden and the hills above. The cottage is really comfortable, very warm with underfloor heating and a woodburner too. Kitchen has everything you could need and the bathroom is more than adequate with a very nice shower and always loads of hot water. The ample parking and free wifi all make the experience relaxing and trouble free. Tom and Liz are incredibly welcoming and friendly. We would have no hesitation in highly recommending the cottage (or the larger one next door).
