We stayed at Jasmine cottage this August with my teenage children, husband and mum and had a lovely stay. The owner Lisa, lives next door and is friendly and helpful, she even came round to offer us a bigger cafetiere because there were 3 adults and was concerned we might need a bigger one, which was very kind. The property is very old but has a new kitchen recently fitted, new double glazing and new shower room. The kitchen was well equipped but if you plan to cook bring your own knives (as with every holiday let I've ever used the knives are blunt). The cottage is in a very quiet location so we got peaceful nights sleep which was lovely. It wasn't the most comfortable holiday let I've ever stayed in but it was not bad. There is WiFi available if you have BT open zone (I think it's called) otherwise you can pay BT for it but it's not cheap so depends how badly you want it, my husband just used his mobile data. The village itself only has a pub but Thirsk is only 10 min drive away and has everything you could need by way of supermarkets takeaways and restaurants. Thomas the bakers is in almost every town round there and do lovely food at really good prices. There are so many lovely places to visit we loved York, Whitby, Helmsley, Grassington and Knaresborough. If I was back in Yorkshire again I would definitely return to Jasmine cottage.

We had a lovely weekend at Jasmine Cottage.. The weather was glorious and Lisa the property owner was very welcoming and allowed us to arrive a few hours early as there had been no one in the day before. The cottage was very comfortable, especially the beds. It is in a lovely area and there are lots of places to visit within a short distance. We spent a very enjoyable day walking at Sutton Bank with easy going paths which were good even with a baby and pushchair. We also spent a lovely day at Rievaulx Abbey and Helmsley. We were however disappointed to find that the very pretty lawned garden shown on the website is sadly now all paving and gravel with very little greenery. The garden was one of the things that attracted me to the cottage as we love to sit outside and it would have been perfect for my 11 month old grandson to explore. It was not really safe to put him down to crawl on gravel or paving. Also the large walk in shower was perfect for the adults in the party but not for a baby and the website does state that there is a bath with shower over. I really think that details and photographs should be kept up to date so that customers are not disappointed or misled.

A beautiful 200 year old cottage, very clean and comfortable.. In a lovely peaceful village. Lisa the owner is brilliant and just lives next door. The cottage is equipped with everything you need, beds are comfy and living area spacious. The local pub is great for a drink, a 5 min drive to the Angel at Topcliffe for delicious food. Supermarkets a 10 min drive to Thirsk. Access to To York, Northallerton, Knatesbrough, Whitby, Thirsk - there's so much to do.

Thank you for a lovely week long stay in your beautiful little Jasmine Cottage.. It is everything one would expect and enjoy in such an old place. The entrance lobby opens up onto the dining room with old and shabby chic furnishings. The kitchen has plenty of work surface and enough room for 2 people to move around easily. The lounge is surprisingly large with deep comfortable sofas. From the lounge there is access to a small patio and garden with a modest set of table and chairs. The 3 bedrooms are quite spacious. The bathroom has a bath with shower over it rather than a walk in shower. Lisa our host was friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. During our stay in the warm summer of 2018 the cottage stayed nice and warm throughout the night. It has been a pleasure to be able to use your cottage as a base to explore the Dales and the Moors, the market towns and picturesque villages, the nearby castles and Manor houses, to revisit childhood memories and to create new ones. We had quite forgotten just how much we love the area. Personally, we found the main bedroom mattress to be too hard for us, and the lack of WiFi n the cottage was a nuisance, but the local pub, a 5 minute stroll away, did prove to have not only a lively local village atmosphere with good value drinks and a sociable crowd but also a good WiFi reception.

A group of four of us had a very nice stay in this old cottage. The owner (Lisa) lives next door and could not be more helpful (especially with providing freshly laid eggs from her chickens!). Close to the town of Thirsk. It was a bit tricky to find but an ideal location.

Having read very positive reviews on Sykes cottages website about this property, we had high hopes. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the general upkeep of the cottage. We were told it was over 200 years old but that doesn't excuse a dangerous oven (steam pothered out from the bottom of the door) a broken freezer door, a kettle full of linescale, dirty crockery, a broken sofa and copious amounts of mould and damp in one of the bedrooms. This mould was so significant that one of the party couldn't sleep due to irritation of allergies. We were advised to ventilate the property to reduce condensation but this didn't eradicate the mould which was hidden behind a bed and had not appeared overnight as the owner suggested! Wifi was not included and wasn't mentioned in any property description prior to booking. We have chosen to publish this review on trip advisor as we hope to alert future guests to the problems we encountered as Sykes cottages only published positive reviews about the property.

Yes, we really enjoyed our stay in the cottage but it was hard to find the first time because the description "how to get there" was vague.. By coincidense we found it.
