White Gables is a detached cottage, situated in the owners grounds, on the outskirts of the village of Great Clifton, 5 miles from Cockermouth and 18 miles from Keswick. This cottage sleeps up to 12 people and has 6 bedrooms, consisting of two twin bedrooms, one king size double and one double with an ensuite shower room on the upper ground floor and one twin and one children's bunks with sofa's, TV and pool table on the lower ground floor, as well as a two upper ground floor family shower rooms, and a lower ground floor bathroom with roll top bath. The cottage also has an open plan living area with sitting area, fitted kitchen area and dining area. Outside, this cottage has ample off road parking and a lawned garden with furniture and BBQ. White Gables is a superb family holiday home in a beautiful area of the Lake District, perfect at any time of year.

Upper ground floor: 2 x shower rooms with shower, basin & WC. Lower ground floor: Bathroom with roll-top bath, separate shower cubicle, basin & WC. Upper ground floor: Open plan living area with sitting area with electric fire (woodburner effect), fitted kitchen area & dining area.

Area
The village of Great Clifton is situated five miles from the town of Cockermouth on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The area around the village is largely undiscovered and unspoilt with the Loweswater valley and mountains offering dramatic views and scenary. Cockermouth is the birthplace of William Wordsworth, with his Georgian family home now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust, plus the town offers shops, pubs and places to eat. The area is also renowned for wonderful walking and cycling.

Beautiful, large house with excellent facilities.. The huge, open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is a definite bonus for a large family gathering. The house looks out onto open countryside and the large garden was well used. The games room was also a definite asset and the kids (men included!) spent lots of time in there. The local pub/hotel, which is literally a few yards away, served excellent food, very reasonably priced. The owners (who live next door) were very friendly and helpful but completely respected our privacy.

An absolutely stunning house in a beautiful area, stayed in many houses via Sykes but this was the best by far for 6 adults and 3 children ranging in age.. Everything was catered for and everything you could possibly need was available in the house. It was spotless on arrival and the pictures dont give it the full justice as to how beautiful it really is! The owners were quick to reply to any questions prior to our visit and after an unfortunate car breakdown they were absolutely amazing in assisting us and couldn't have done more. We will be back to visit and thanks again for a lovely few days!

What a fantastic house! We had a very enjoyable stay. It was immaculate and had everything we needed. The kids loved the games room and appreciated the selection of toys and board games. The house was clean, modern and homely, there was plenty of space in the communal areas to sest us all comfortably and plenty of beds to accommodate our group.. The house was 100m from a local restaurant and very close to main roads into the Lake District NP. Fab stay would definitely reccomend.

We have just come back from a family holiday at White Gables, everything was perfect we had such an amazing time! Cheryl was so helpful and everywhere was spotless. I especially liked the amount of pots/pans in the kitchen more than enough for cooking for a large number of people. Lots of lovely bathrooms too (4) enough for everyone. Will definitely be returning :)

White Gables is a beautiful House set in a lovely location.. It doesn't have the 'Holiday Let' feeling at all - rather its very homely. The standard of decor, cleanliness, equipment etc was extremely high. We holiday each year (7 adults and 5 children) and this was definitely just right for us. Easy reach of main attractions and walks but very comfortable for just staying in with a great garden for the children to play in - even had toys and books !!

Fabulous house with more than enough room for everyone (our party was 6 adults, 3 children and a baby).. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms helped our individual families to have their own routines yet be part of everything. The house is well equipped and the garden safe for the children. The owners were friendly and helpful. The location suited us well with many amenities, walks, lakes, and other places of interest just a short drive away. Can very happily recommend this accommodation.

Lovely house.. .. A bit TARDIS-like, seeming much bigger on the inside. Quiet location though the view could be better! Comfortable beds. It's a shame the two in the games room aren't proper beds as my 6'3" son didn't find his bed very comfortable. Talking of the games room, we all had great fun playing pool.. was a real treat having the table. Kitchen well equipped. Ample bathrooms and the showers were good. Good parking provision. There's a little garage shop about a mile down the road otherwise it's 4 to 5 miles to Workington for Asda or Tesco. About 5 miles to Maryport and South Allonby Bay which is a nice beach with a Roman fortlet and Anglon-Saxon saltpans to visit ( for free ) near Crosscanonby.

Made my 40th birthday more special as it was absolute luxury.. Definitely will be returning. The lady and gentleman that own it were wonderful, so friendly. Beautifully set in a sleepy little village, within a short walking distance to the pub. All my guests were thrilled with the house and we are already making plans to come back.

This is a lovely property which has a great layout for 2 families to share. The children loved the playroom downstairs and the adults enjoyed the open plan kitchen and living area. The house was well equipped and the owners were very friendly. There is also a really nice pub within a 2 minute walk which does amazing food. We had a great holiday and would definitely go back.

Enjoyed a lovely girlie weekend at White Gables. House very well appointed and spacious. We enjoyed the chimnea (chopped wood provided) and sat out until 10.30 one evening with a glass or two! Pub a the end of the lane too. Cheryl and Colin were great hosts and provided useful info on the local area. Handy for Keswick and the coast (half hour drive to Allonby). Fab weekend. Just back from a week staying in this cottage. There were 10 of us in total (5 adults, 5 kids) and the cottage accommodated us perfectly. A home from home that offers everything you could ask for. The owners could not be more friendly! The setting is so peaceful & idyllic. The cottage & garden are beautiful and spacious! The games room was a huge hit with the kids (and adults looking for a bit of peace)! It also offers an ideal base for exploring the surrounding towns - Workington, Keswick, Maryport & Whitehaven. I could not recommend this place enough & wound definitely go back!

We stayed at White Gables in end of april 2013 as part of a group of 12 Mountain Bikers. We were actually all on the honeymoon of two of the riders who had got married during the week! We had such a fantastic stay, in fact it was no less than perfect! The welcome was fantastic by the owners who we felt couldn't do enough for us. The property itself is spacious, modern, clean and warm and the layout suited us down to the ground with the lounge and kitchen area perfect for communal living, seating large groups comfortably. There are plenty of lovely bathrooms for all which is ideal when you are mountain biking and the property is situated very close to the local pub which is perfect for a group of bikers. We also had a meal there which was fantastic. So sorry for all the 'perfects' and 'fantastics' but I can't find any other words to describe our stay at White Gables. Book with confidence...we will be returning hopefully soon!

The owners were two incredible people, gave us advice about places to visit and places to eat, which when you have three hungry children with you is really helpful. The house was amazing and very deceptive. From the outside it looked like a bungalow, but inside it had two floors with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (one of which was an on suite) a large lounge dining room and kitchen and games room. The views and the gardens were exceptional. We loved this holiday so much that we didn't want to come home!
