Slate House is a perfect base for exploring the Kerry and Dingle peninsulas, Inch Strand is one hour away. For many this part of Ireland is its finest, with plenty to occupy two weeks, and about as far west as you can go in Europe. Cahersiveen is a two mile walk along the back-lane with nice views, this small town should satisfy all needs and hosts interesting bars, shops, cafes, and a quay. The house is also used for the owner's holidays so feels more like a home than some holiday lets and had everything we needed including some basic essentials and goodies on arrival. There is a powerful shower on each floor, the ground floor includes a bathroom with double+single bedroom that might suit persons with limited mobility. The sheep in the back yard, although lovely to see, were sensibly fenced off to avoid contact with humans. Most systems were quick to find and how-to-use, although on a general note the holiday-let industry would do well to learn that guests don’t want to spend hours searching for necessities and how they work. Unlike comm’s nightmares experienced all over Scotland last year, we were surprised to get 4g ‘everywhere’ and forever thankful the owners supplied good wifi: setting aside social media noise, some people have to be able to keep-in-touch with other worlds. Overall: good value, top location, all facilities, good as and better than shown online, easy communications with both Hogans and the owners. Highly recommended. PS: unlike UK, civilised Ireland still has numerous free public loos, and free slipways for boaters everywhere!

Situated on the Kerry & Skellig Rings: the elevated west-facing house offers excellent views from all rooms, especially of Valentia Island.. We had a very enjoyable stay in The Slate House which is well located on the Ring of Kerry. We really appreciated the great amount of interior space, especially as we had 2 rainy days. The house is equipped with everything you could think of and more (our teenagers give full marks to WiFi and Netflix).

Beautiful house which was really well equipped.. The owner was very helpful and patient as many of our questions were well explained in the thorough folder which was available. Not walking distance from Cahirsiveen but right beside some great walks around the Beentie mountain. We had a super week despite some wet days.

A recommander!

The house is fantastic; very spacious, with more than enough room for our party of 8.. It is in a very quiet area, so you won't be disturbed any any loud noises, etc. I can't recommend anything that could be done to improve it. Highly recommended!
