Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay, and Scarborough are all easily accessible from Goathland, making it an ideal holiday home base.

What a nature lover and walker's retreat. The views of the Esk Valley from the rear door are spectacular and are unspoilt with the NYM steam train line slightly hidden within but a fabulous sight in the valley. The bird species located at the accommodation were Barn Owl at 7.30 am, buzzard, kestrel, red wing (43), sparrow hawk, kestrel, gold crest, tree creeper, nut hatch and wow a leucitic pheasant. The accommodation left nothing required and I am fussy. Spacious, greatly equipped and fab oven, washer and dishwasher. Fabulous linen and towels. This was the best hot tub by way of maintenance I have ever encountered. No chemical smell. An uninterrupted view to die for over the valley and endless stars to count whilst in the hot tub, I am in awe of the loving family who have put their heart and sole into this haven for them and their children and pets (wow) to enjoy. This admiration for the area and their buildings provided one of the best holiday breaks we have had.

Enjoyed two weeks in great surroundings, in a beautiful house with all amenities. Everything clean and the beds sleep well..kitchen perfectly equipped. The view is great, the owners are helpful and nice people. Upon arrival there were beautiful flowers on the table and a basket full of surprises. From the cottage we made many trips in the area. What a wonderful time we had. We often make these kinds of trips from the Netherlands, this one was certainly one of the best.

We stayed for a week to explore the coast and moors. For example Whitby and Staithes are about 20 to 25 minutes away by car. The hosts are very welcoming and happy to assist with advice plus lovely fresh eggs. The location is a little off road and reached by farm tracks. The local pubs are a couple of miles away but all provide good typical meals. The hot tub was popular with the grandchildren as were the friendly chickens, ducks and dogs. (Not enjoyed together). The views of the hills and valleys were lovely and the sight of the regular North Moors Stem Railway trains chuffing along were very nostalgic. Goathland village and station is about 10 minutes easy drive. I would heartlly recommend this cottage for all types of stay.
